PBS host confronts James Carville about his comment on "preachy females" within the Democratic party: "Let's focus on winning over male voters"
Carville advised Democrats to bury identity politics deep into the ground moving forward.
On Wednesday's "Amanpour and Co.," PBS host Christiane Amanpour queried Carville about his previous remarks.
"Last spring, you stated that you believed there were too many preachy women controlling the culture of the Democratic Party. Do you still hold that view?"
"Carville remarked, 'Well, would you look at our male vote?' and questioned whether the Democrats have a messaging problem, stating that the message may come across as too feminine."
Carville stated, "I have not encountered anyone who doubts my correctness at this moment. I intentionally say controversial things to elicit a reaction. Do we truly have an issue with male voters?"
CNN International anchor Amanpour acknowledged the Democrats' poor performance with male voters and asked what the party can do to improve in the future.
"You can change your language to be more straightforward. Don't use coded language. It will take one cycle to remove the smell from our shirt, but I believe if we act correctly, it will be gone by '26 and completely gone by '28," Carville stated. "However, please don't assume that we did well with males because we didn't."
