Parents of Hamas hostage express concern over anti-Israel protests on Oct. 7: What is the reasoning behind supporting such actions?
Numerous demonstrators opposing Israel gathered in NYC on the solemn day of Oct. 7.
The parents of a Hamas hostage in Gaza condemned the anti-Israel protests on the anniversary of the Oct. 7 massacre, expressing confusion over how anyone could support the terror group after the brutal attack on Israel.
Yael and Adi Alexander, whose son Edan remains captive in the Gaza Strip, appeared on "Fox & Friends" to discuss the ongoing protests, their recent meeting with former President Trump on the solemn anniversary, and the current status of negotiations to secure Edan's release.
Yael informed Brian Kilmeade on Tuesday that it is challenging for her to view the footage taken by Hamas on October 7th, despite her efforts to see it.
"Every time I hear these sounds, I start crying and find it very scary."
"I don't understand how people can't comprehend that this is a terrorist group. They terrorize Israel," she said. "On October 6th, everything was calm. It was peaceful in Israel... I was talking to Edan on October 6th at night, and we video called each other. Suddenly, October 7th happened."
On Monday, thousands of protesters gathered in New York City to demonstrate against Israel, marking the anniversary of the Hamas attack that killed 1,200 innocent Israelis.
Demonstrators on Columbia University's campus and throughout the city shouted, "NYPD, KKK, IDF, they're all the same!" during protests that lasted across the city.
"Palestine! Palestine!" others shouted, while waving the Palestinian flag.
Yael and Adi, residents of New Jersey, met with Trump in New York City to pay tribute to the anniversary of the terrorist attack.
Yael remembered telling the president about Edan, a Jersey boy who was rescued in mid-November and spoke with people inside the tunnels, claiming to be an American citizen.
She continued, "Knowing that Edan was strong on October 7th and comforting others gave us a lot of strength."
Alexander commended the American government's efforts to free American hostages and advised the Israeli government to take similar actions.
"We have access to the highest level of government and are grateful for it. However, we haven't seen any movement since November, and we hope diplomacy will work this time, quickly."
Gaza still holds four American captives, including Edan, while Hamas also keeps the remains of three Americans.
Their son was praised by the pair for his commitment to both the United States and Israel. After graduating from high school, he decided to join the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Tragically, he was kidnapped by Hamas as terrorists invaded the Israeli border.
Our family is totally broken," Yael said, "It was a very difficult year.
"We are constantly thinking about Edan and are doing everything in our power to free him and the 100 hostages still in Gaza. We are meeting with government officials in both the U.S. and Israel and traveling extensively to make this happen."
