Obama advisors criticize Biden's handling of final months in office: "Trump's presidency is not yet over"
Trump has made several public appearances with world leaders and unveiled policies prior to his inauguration.
Obama aides contended that it is increasingly difficult to remember that Trump is not currently in the White House, as Biden has largely remained out of the public eye.
The "Obama bros," Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor, discussed Trump's recent announcement of a $100 billion investment from Softbank Group on their podcast "Pod Save America."
""Joe Biden is fading from the public eye as his presidency comes to an end, but Trump isn't president yet!" Favreau exclaimed Tuesday."
"Joe Biden believes in tradition and institutions, and we should only have one president at a time, and I find it surprising that he thinks it's appropriate to allow it to be Donald Trump," Lovett sarcastically remarked.
Trump is skilled at utilizing social gatherings to display the "pageantry and trappings of the presidency," as seen in his attendance at the Army-Navy football game, an event that Biden had never participated in.
In his final year as president, Lovett was highly critical of Biden and the Democratic Party for delaying the replacement of Biden as the nominee.
Lovett expressed his frustration with Joe Biden's final year, culminating in the debate, and how much they paid for having someone who was not an articulate and comprehensive messenger, not just for his own presidency but for progressivism and democracy. He admitted that he was angry about it and a little mad at himself for not being more honest about his feelings or not seeing it as clearly, as they were obviously paying dearly for it.
What I'm more concerned about than seeing Joe Biden enough is whether I feel confident that he is thinking of every single way to future-proof the White House behind the scenes.
The "Obama bros" have consistently criticized Biden's age as a significant challenge for his presidency, with their criticism dating back to February.
Recently, the podcast criticized Biden for pardoning his son Hunter and portraying the Democratic Party as "foolish."
"Joe Biden's actions have led to a cynical feeling that all politicians are bad, and this is just par for the course. Republicans will use this to argue that Democrats warned of Trump's corruption or threat to the rule or democracy, but it was just politics as usual. Vietor is frustrated with this, as he believes that politicians should be held accountable for their actions and not be seen as typical, lying politicians."
