During her exit from the White House, first lady Jill Biden spoke with The Washington Post and expressed disappointment in former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who significantly impacted the president's decision not to run for president in 2024.

The first lady expressed disappointment that she and her friend had been friends for 50 years, stating that it had been on her mind a lot lately.

In July, Pelosi appeared on "Morning Joe" with the co-hosts and stated, "The president must decide if he will run for president, even though Biden has consistently stated that he will remain in the race."

The first lady expressed disappointment with how it unfolded, she said.

Pelosi was a key figure in the Democratic campaign to persuade the president to withdraw from the race, and she expressed regret after Vice President Harris lost to President-elect Trump that Biden should have dropped out earlier.

Despite saying he wouldn't drop out of the presidential race following the June debate, there were reports that leaders within the Democratic Party, including former President Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Pelosi, worked behind-the-scenes to encourage Biden to drop out due to concerns he would not defeat Trump.

Jill Biden expressed confidence to The Washington Post that her husband could have served another four years.

She stated that she believed he had a packed schedule today, as he began early with interviews and briefings and it continued throughout the day.

Last week, Biden told USA Today that he was uncertain about serving another term.

"What will I be like at 86 years old?" he wondered aloud.

The Washington Post interviewed Jill Biden about the president's decision to pardon Hunter.

"The first lady stated that Joe struggled with the decision, starting from when he said he wouldn't pardon Hunter. However, she noted that circumstances changed, and it became clear that the Republicans wouldn't stop."

Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment from Pelosi's office was not immediately responded to.
