MSNBC's Joe Scarborough claims he did not observe any mental decline in Biden during White House meetings.
Trump's mental fitness was questioned by Scarborough following his June debate with Trump.
On Wednesday, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough stated that he did not observe any mental decline in President Biden during White House meetings, despite some individuals questioning the president's legacy as he prepares to transfer power to President-elect Donald Trump.
I have previously mentioned that I spent two-and-a-half to three hours with Joe Biden in the White House, discussing foreign policy matters in depth. Biden was as sharp as anyone else I've spoken to and spoke like a seasoned leader. Although he was physically slower, he corrected any mistakes he made. After two-and-a-half to three hours of conversation with him in the White House, I did not notice any significant issues.
During a conversation with the Financial Times' Edward Luce, published Wednesday, Scarborough refuted Luce's claim that Biden's mental decline was an "open secret" in Washington.
According to Scarborough, the man's lack of qualifications to be President of the United States was not universally believed in Washington, D.C. He stated that while this is commonly said on social media, it was not his personal experience. He added that Mike Barnicle and Mika would likely agree with him on this matter.
Although Scarborough and Brezinski have been among Biden's most ardent supporters and confidants in the press, Scarborough has raised doubts about the president's health after the June debate with Trump.
In March 2024, viewers were unable to handle the "truth" that Biden was the best he's ever been, causing Scarborough to lash out.
"I've been saying for years that Biden is cogent, but I underestimated him when I said he was cogent. In fact, I believe he's even better than he's ever been, both intellectually and analytically, because he's been around for 50 years. So listen up, because I'm about to tell you the truth. And if you can't handle it, well, f-you."
Luce refuted the MSNBC host's assertion that foreign leaders and those closest to Biden were taken aback by the president's sharpness in meetings.
Luce stated that she is not fabricating the information she is sharing about Biden's declining energy and memory. She has spoken to individuals who are familiar with Biden and can confirm that she has had numerous discussions with them about these issues over the past few years.
Scarborough questioned why people who witnessed the president's decline did not speak out earlier, citing Washington Post columnist David Ignatius' suggestion for Biden not to run for re-election in September 2023.
Scarborough stated that he would have said it if he had seen it.
Biden's claim that he could have won was "highly contestable," as Luce stated.
Luce stated that he believes it is incorrect for Biden to feel pride in defeating Trump in 2020 and being a good president, as he thought he could beat Trump in November.
