MSNBC's Jen Psaki praised Biden's decision not to pardon Hunter Biden as a display of strong character.
On Sunday, President Biden reversed his earlier promise not to pardon his son.
In June, Jen Psaki, MSNBC host and former White House Press Secretary, stated that President Biden would not pardon his son because he trusted in the American justice system.
Psaki stated on June 16 that his decision not to pardon his son is not a sign of restraint or detachment from his son's experiences, but rather a matter of principle. This was during the same week that his son was convicted on federal gun charges and his father reaffirmed that he would not grant him a pardon.
Biden reversed his earlier pledge and announced that he would pardon his son just weeks before leaving office in January.
"In the June segment, Psaki stated that "Joe Biden's commitment to protecting the justice system that convicted his only surviving son is evident.""
Psaki stated that it was Biden's character as a public servant that motivated him to make it clear that the law applies to everyone.
Biden has consistently declared that he would not grant a pardon to Hunter and would adhere to the legal process's verdict regarding his son.
"In a speech on Psaki's show, Biden stated, "I am extremely proud of my son Hunter. He is one of the brightest, most decent men I know. I respect the jury decision and will abide by it. I will not pardon him.""
Hunter Biden was convicted in two separate federal cases earlier this year.
In June, Psaki stated that Biden's strong character is evident in the way he treats his family members.
"Psaki stated that Joe Biden is someone who always picks up the phone when any of his grandchildren call, regardless of what is happening at the moment."
In September, Hunter Biden admitted guilt to federal tax charges, thereby avoiding a public trial for his tax evasion while he spent extravagantly on drugs, escorts, expensive hotels, clothing, and other personal items.
In June, the first son was found guilty of three felony gun offenses, as he had falsified a mandatory gun purchase form by claiming he did not use or abuse drugs.
President Biden's supporters in the liberal media have been critical of his broken promise and defended him for not exposing his son to the Trump administration's Justice Department's wrath.
