MSNBC analyst claims that "hatred" has always been the driving force behind the MAGA movement.
In recent days, several conservative commentators have criticized Trump opponents.
During a Monday conversation on MSNBC, political analyst Eddie Glaude Jr. contended that hatred, greed, and selfishness were the driving forces behind President-elect Donald Trump's political movement.
The modern Republican Party is characterized by three elements: corporatists, libertarians, and nativists. These components have been present since the beginning, and Ronald Reagan was able to balance them in unique ways. Similarly, Elon Musk embodies the plutocrat, driven by greed and advancing his interests. This can manifest as right-wing populism, which takes the form of xenophobia, nativism, and hatred towards certain groups.
During the conversation, Nicolle Wallace strongly agreed with Glaude and emphasized the importance of comprehending Trumpism in order to defeat it.
Glaude stated that the collision of greed and hatred is at the heart of Trumpism and MAGAism, and it has always been selfish and hateful. Now, it is in full view.
Glaude and Wallace discussed disagreements among members of the party regarding H-1B visas, and Glaude urged people to comprehend the divisions within Trump's movement.
After Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, co-chairs of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), expressed their support for H-1B visas for skilled laborers, MAGS figures online debated the topic.
Steve Bannon, a faction of Trump's base, considers H-1B visas a "scam" that "takes American jobs and brings over what essentially become indentured servants at lower wages."
Trump has acknowledged using H-1B visas at some of his properties and stated his support for them.
Don Lemon, a former CNN host, has criticized Trump and his supporters prior to 2024.
Trump supporters were characterized as a "cult" by Lemon, who posed the question, "How could you be so unintelligent?"
During an episode of The Don Lemon Show, Lemon referred to Trump supporters as "dumb f---ing idiots" and made fun of their "stupid MAGA brain."
"You're so stupid and you deserve it," he said. "Yes, I am gloating over your stupidity."
