Montage: Democrats, Media Members Express Adoration for Joe Biden Despite Criticisms
George Clooney wrote this week that he loves Joe Biden, but the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time.
In a New York Times guest essay, George Clooney expressed his love for the man he plans to remove from the presidential ticket.
"Joe Biden is a friend of mine and I believe in his character and morals. As a senator, vice president, and president, he has won many battles he faced in the last four years."
But then came that word, "but."
"Although he may be able to win many battles, the one fight he cannot conquer is the battle against time. No one can. It's heartbreaking to admit, but the Joe Biden I met three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the same Joe Biden of 2010. He was not even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all saw at the debate."
Clooney, along with other liberal media members and prominent Democrats, has expressed concern that Biden may not be able to defeat Trump in the upcoming election, despite polls showing a close race.
Numerous individuals have stated that their opposition to Joe Biden is not personal and that they "love" him.
""Joe Biden didn't do well at all, but I love him and worked for him," he said."
On June 29, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough stated that perhaps it was time for Biden to step down, calling him a "man I love" but suggesting that a Fortune 500 company might replace a CEO with similar performance. However, Scarborough later suggested that Democrats should slow their rush to replace him.
On MSNBC on June 28, Tim Miller of The Bulwark stated, "I admire Joe Biden as a president, but if he can't effectively argue that Trump poses a threat, he should be replaced."
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., praised Joe Biden's presidency on MSNBC on June 30, stating that he has been a "magnificent" leader, despite party "concerns" about his viability.
Since July 2, several Democratic politicians, including Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., Sen. Peter Welch, D-Vt., and Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., have expressed their love for Joe Biden but have also called for him to leave the presidential race.
Ali Vitali of NBC, along with other journalists, has reportedly heard the same sentiment behind the scenes.
She stated that she had not spoken to any staffer, operative, or elected official who did not express some variation of the sentence, "I love Joe Biden, but,."
Biden has unequivocally stated that he will run for president in 2024, as he appeared on "Morning Joe," a program that has consistently backed his administration.
""I am not going anywhere," he stated."
Biden's campaign didn't return a request for comment.
