Michael Cohen requests a presidential pardon from Biden, emphasizing his status as a father.
If Trump were re-elected, Cohen stated that he intended to depart the country.
Michael Cohen, a former attorney of President Trump, is requesting a pardon from President Biden in a similar manner to how Biden pardoned his son Hunter prior to President-elect Trump's inauguration.
On MSNBC's "The Weekend" on Saturday morning, Cohen spoke about his attempts to contact the Biden administration for a pardon. He stated that not receiving a presidential pardon would still put him at risk of being prosecuted by Trump.
Biden has an obligation to safeguard his critics, including Cohen, in the same manner he shielded his son Hunter from Trump's attacks.
"Cohen stated that he applied for a presidential pardon because he believed that Biden had the same responsibility to him as he did to his own son. He expected that the same pardon given to his son would also be granted to him and anyone else on the enemies list, regardless of their desire for it. Cohen emphasized that solitary confinement, where he spent 51 days, was a difficult experience."
Symone Sanders concurred with Cohen's apprehension about being on Trump's "enemies list" but opposed invoking Hunter Biden in his defense.
Sanders stated, "Hunter Biden is the president's last surviving son."
Cohen replied, "By the way, I am someone's son too."
"I agree that you are someone's son, but it's important to clarify that you are not the president's son. He pardoned Hunter mainly because he is his son, in my opinion."
Trump should be taken seriously as a threat, insisted Cohen.
"Cohen stated that Trump's promises are trustworthy, and he has been fulfilling them one by one. Although not all of his plans will be accomplished on the first day, he will have four years to work with a team of individuals to achieve his goals."
Cohen, who served three years in prison for federal crimes, has become a vocal critic of Trump and testified against him in Alvin Bragg's New York criminal case earlier this year.
In September, Cohen stated that he intended to depart the country if Trump won re-election.
Cohen stated that he is currently working on a foreign passport under a different name, and he is uncertain about how it will impact his relationship with his wife and children. He does not want them to relocate to the destination he is planning to visit.
Despite insisting he would not give his son Hunter a pardon, Biden was attacked on both sides for doing so in December. In the weeks leading up to the end of his term, Biden has also said he is still considering pre-emptive pardons for some of Trump's political foes, including former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
