Media faces credibility blow with botched coverage of Biden's broken promise
President Biden consistently stated throughout the year that he would not grant a pardon to his son.
On Sunday, President Biden's decision to break his promise not to pardon his son Hunter left liberal and legacy media outlets stunned, adding to their ongoing coverage errors regarding the Biden family saga.
The Biden family scandal, which began with the dismissal of Hunter Biden's scandalous laptop as Russian disinformation, has been ongoing for over four years. Despite this, the media has continued to mishandle the controversy by accepting the president's claim that he wouldn't pardon his son.
Over the past five years, the media has disgraced itself by insisting that Biden was sharp as a tack until his infamous debate debacle on live television forced them to pivot away from the notion that he was fit to serve another term.
The media veteran stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that the media willfully ignored clear evidence of criminal misconduct by Hunter Biden, which was acquiesced to by Joe Biden, and called it "disinformation." They also ignored clear evidence of the president's senility and the conspiracy by Hunter, Jill, and Valerie to keep him and, by extension, them in power. This is an example of media corruption, and there needs to be a reckoning.
The New York Post discovered a notorious laptop containing incriminating videos, photos, and confidential business communications a few weeks before the presidential election. However, in an unprecedented act of censorship, the damaging information was suppressed by the uniformed forces.
The New York Post was locked out of its Twitter account for weeks and users were unable to share the story link due to Twitter's claim that the story violated its terms of service on hacked materials.
The Russian disinformation narrative, which was initially pushed by legacy media outlets and social media platforms, was proven to be false once President Biden was safely in office.
Despite being convicted of two federal cases earlier this year, including three felony charges for federal gun violations and a separate felony tax case, Hunter Biden, 54, persisted in causing problems for his father's administration.
President Biden consistently stated throughout the year that he would not pardon his son. This claim was quickly mirrored by the media, just as the laptop was falsely labeled as "Russian disinformation."
Biden's "presidential," "stoic," and "moral clarity" promise was seen as an example of respect for the law. MSNBC host Jen Psaki stated that Biden would not pardon his son because he believed in the American justice system.
Psaki stated that the justice system that convicted his only surviving son is the same system he has pledged to safeguard.
MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle praised Biden's pledge to not pardon his son, while MSNBC's Alex Wagner suggested it meant Republicans wouldn't be able to accuse Democrats of rigging the system. Evan Osnos boasted on CNN about Biden's decision not to use the tempting pardon power.
Laura Coates of CNN stated that the president was prioritizing the law over family, while both MSNBC and CNN commended Biden for his statement declaring that no one is above the law.
The journalists who predicted that Biden would not pardon his son have been proven wrong after the White House announced that Hunter Biden would be pardoned for all offenses against the U.S. from Jan. 1, 2014 to Dec. 1, 2024.
Biden's poor performance during a June debate against Trump caused headaches among media members, prompting calls for him to step aside as soon as the debate ended, as Democratic allies were stunned when he appeared confused, unsure, and raspy.
After the pardon announcement on Sunday night, Biden's supporters in the media have shifted their focus from attacking his broken promise to justifying his decision not to put his son at risk of the Trump administration's Justice Department's wrath.
Axios political correspondent Alex Thompson was questioned by Semafor's Ben Smith about whether the media has overlooked the story of Biden's family.
Smith published a text message from Thompson stating that many reporters were hesitant to cover the family drama surrounding the Biden presidency, which encompassed both a political tragedy and a romantic tale.
"Biden's grief over Beau and guilt over Hunter haunted him for the past four years, despite the efforts of bad-faith conservatives to humiliate rather than illuminate."
A second media insider believes that the Biden family drama has been overlooked by newsrooms.
The media insider stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that the topic should be discussed in newsrooms, as they have talked to many people about the need for a more substantial and fair job. However, the insider acknowledged that some of the Republican zealotry about Hunter was misplaced.
"The insider stated that the Democratic Party and the Biden family have a blind spot when it comes to understanding Hunter Biden's potential as a litmus test for the fairness of the legal system. The insider emphasized that it is impossible to ignore the transgressions of Hunter Biden and not expect them to be brought up in the future."
Tobe Berkovitz, a Professor Emeritus at Boston University and a media and communications expert, believes that while the botched coverage of Hunter Biden's saga did not completely ruin the media's credibility in the eyes of the average American, it certainly did not help.
"The media is now eating crow after Biden's decision not to pardon Hunter. This has left many reporters and analysts looking like fools, as they had previously praised Biden's adherence to the rule of law," Berkovitz said on Planet Chronicle Digital.
