Mayors in New Jersey are calling for action and transparency after a series of mysterious drones were spotted flying over the state.
Gov. Phil Murphy declares no immediate danger to the public.
Over a dozen counties in New Jersey have been experiencing a nightly presence of mysterious drones, prompting mayors to demand answers for their concerned constituents.
The mayors of Washington Township and Mine Hill, Matthew Murello and Sam Morris, respectively, wrote a letter to Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy, requesting that his office act promptly and provide transparency regarding their concerns.
They say the ongoing mystery has created fear and frustration among their communities.
"Yesterday, the governor was very kind to call me back and convey the same message we've known all along. Although there don't seem to be any safety concerns, the main issue is that there's no information about who's operating these drones, what they're doing, where they're going or where they're coming from, as stated by Murello on "Fox & Friends" on Monday."
On Sunday, Morris had a conversation with Gov. Murphy and learned the same information.
The governor's office is extremely frustrated with the feds. I suggested to him that we implement a "follow a drone home" program, where we send a drone or helicopter to track the source of the drones. This will help us identify the individuals responsible and ensure compliance with regulations. Our residents are demanding this solution, and it is necessary for maintaining public safety.
"We are frustrated because, despite being Matt and other mayors, we have no control or say over the situation that is causing us a lot of heat."
Some drones, reportedly the size of small cars, could potentially harm or kill individuals if they malfunction and descend, as per information shared with Planet Chronicle.
Bill Spadea, a Republican gubernatorial candidate and host on New Jersey's 101.5 talk radio, stated on Sunday that his station has been receiving calls about the sightings and the topic has dominated the last week and a half.
Last Thursday, Gov. Murphy stated on X that there is no known threat to the public at this time. State officials have said they are taking the mystery drone sightings "seriously."
The FBI is currently investigating the matter, but Planet Chronicle Digital did not receive an immediate response when they reached out for information.
