Lawmakers from the Democratic party drafted a letter accusing Meta, OpenAI, and Google of attempting to "curry favor" with former President Trump.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, responded to a letter with a humorous comment about not receiving one of the same kind for his contributions to the Democrats.

Big Tech companies and leaders are being accused by democratic lawmakers of attempting to sway the incoming administration through substantial donations to President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural fund.

The letter, obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital, was distributed to Amazon, Apple, Google, OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft, and Uber by Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Michael Bennet.

The tech industry is facing increased scrutiny from regulators for antitrust violations, privacy violations, and harm to workers, consumers, and competition. Meanwhile, lawmakers from both parties have expressed support for regulating tech platforms, recognizing the need for comprehensive rules in the tech sector.

The document raises concerns that your company and other Big Tech donors are using your significant contributions to the inaugural fund to gain favor with the incoming Trump administration, thereby avoiding scrutiny and limiting regulation.

The donations made by Warren and Bennet raise questions about corruption and the influence of corporate money on the Trump administration, and Congress and the public require answers.

The companies are requested to provide information about their contributions by January 31, including the reasoning behind them and any communications made to the Trump administration.

I never received one of these from Democrats despite contributing to them, as Sam Altman tweeted in response to the letter.

Altman stated that his $1 million donation to the inaugural fund was a personal contribution, and he was perplexed about the document's specifics, as his company had no role in the decision-making process.

An OpenAI spokesperson stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that Sam believes President Trump will lead the country during a crucial time for AI and American innovation and is excited to collaborate with him and his administration.

The five tech giants, Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Uber, each contributed $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund.

Apple CEO Tim Cook personally donated $1 million to the fund.

Many of these tech company leaders are expected to attend Trump's inauguration.

Amazon, Apple, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Uber have been contacted by Planet Chronicle Digital for comments.
