Katie Couric questioned the authenticity of Trump's early election night lead, suggesting it was a "red mirage."
The journalist advised TikTok followers not to panic about initial pro-Trump results.
Vice President Kamala Harris lost the presidential election to President-elect Trump, who earned more than 270 electoral votes.
"If you're watching the election results tonight, be aware of the term "red mirage." This occurs when some rural counties report their results first because they have fewer votes to count, making it seem like the election is leaning in a certain direction."

During the campaign, Democrats received warning signs from Couric.
In May 2024, Couric stated on "The Issue Is" with Elex Michaelson that despite Trump's legal troubles and ongoing trial, as well as the involvement of Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen, Trump appeared to be gaining momentum in the race rather than losing it.
In October, Couric expressed to Charlamagne tha God that she felt Harris did not appear "authentic" when discussing her policies and responding to media inquiries.
