Kamala Harris' stumble on 'The View' regarding Biden marks a pivotal moment in her campaign.
Biden said there was 'nothing that comes to mind' that he'd have done differently than Harris.
On Oct. 8, Vice President Kamala Harris did not anticipate a challenging interview when she appeared on "The View."
Her response to a softball question was seen as a turning point in her campaign, which ultimately resulted in her defeat by President-elect Donald Trump.
Sunny Hostin questioned Harris, "If you could go back, would you have done anything differently than President Biden in the past four years?" After a brief pause, Harris responded, "There is nothing that comes to mind regarding the decisions I've been a part of."
Harris missed the chance to distinguish herself from Biden, who withdrew from the race in July under intense party pressure and poor polls. Instead, she unwittingly created an ad for Trump's campaign that linked her to an unpopular administration.
The Trump campaign's internal polling showed that Kamala Harris had effectively pitched herself as a change agent to voters until that moment, which was seen as significant in a New York Times report about how Trump won the race.
The Times reported that Trump advisers were both elated and taken aback when Harris failed to provide an immediate response to a straightforward question during the presidential debate. The footage quickly made its way into national commercials.
According to the Times, by that afternoon, 10 million voters had received text messages containing the clip on their cellphones. Additionally, television ads aired it to tens of millions more in the following weeks.
Despite facing headwinds such as Biden's unpopularity, economic anxiety, and a multicultural voting coalition built by Trump, Harris lost the election on Tuesday. If the numbers hold true, she will be the first Democrat to lose the national popular vote in 20 years and only the second since 1988. Many of her supporters are blaming Biden for her defeat.
Hostin didn't want to harm Harris, predicting that the Democrat would win the race in a "blowout" and confidently stating that Puerto Ricans would "take out trash" like Trump after an insult comic's joke about the island at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally.
On the day of her interview, Whoopi Goldberg, a co-host of a left-leaning show, introduced Harris as "the next President of the United States," openly supporting her in the race.
Numerous media reports are emphasizing Hostin's innocent query as a factor in Harris' defeat.
The "View" anecdote is featured in a CNN story titled "Where Harris' campaign went wrong," as well as a BBC article titled "Why Kamala Harris lost: A flawed candidate or doomed campaign?" and a USA Today piece titled "How Kamala Harris lost the election: The fatal flaws in a doomed election bid."

Mediaite reported that Americans were eager for a change, and Harris frequently emphasized that she embodied it on the campaign trail. However, the emptiness of her pledge was exposed when, in a moment of vulnerability, she admitted that she couldn't distinguish herself from her boss in terms of any significant differences.
On Wednesday, Hostin expressed her profound disturbance at Tuesday's results and attributed Trump's victory to cultural resentment in the country.
On Thursday, she declared that Latinos in Texas who supported Trump were sexist and misogynist.
