Kamala Harris failed to improve California schools as a Democrat.
Gloria Romero offers criticism of Kamala Harris' performance as California's attorney general.
A former California politician who was once a Democrat is now criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris' education record in the state.
Gloria Romero, the former California Senate Majority Leader, declared on Wednesday that she was switching her voter registration to Republican, citing her frustration.
Romero stated on "The Ingraham Angle" on Thursday that there are numerous others who, like him, have become disaffected Democrats and no longer recognize the party as a true representative of democracy.
Harris was trying to pass a bill that would imprison mothers of students who were absent from school, according to Romero.
"As attorney general of California, Romero failed to improve the schools and promote school choice, despite her efforts. In Oakland, 75% of African-American and Latino children are not proficient in reading and math. Instead of supporting education reforms, she sided with the powerful teachers union to block them. This is the legacy of Romero's time as attorney general."
The former political leader stated that many Democrats are considering switching their party affiliation or voting for former President Trump because of "the lack of school choice, freedom in education, open borders, and rampant crime — a mockery of citizenship itself."
"Although California may be blue, individuals are prepared to vote for change and restore America's greatness, and I am proud to say so."
Since becoming the Democratic nominee, Harris has given only a few interviews and gone over 50 days without a formal news conference. Her record is expected to be scrutinized during the Sept. 10 ABC News presidential debate.
