In Detroit, Michigan, former President Trump's rally attendees, who were black men, discussed their reasons for believing Vice President Kamala Harris was underperforming in the polls.
"Bryan, a Westland, Michigan native, told Planet Chronicle Digital that he believes her message is disingenuous. He added that she seemed to be "trying to appeal to Black people.""
"She has numerous problems under her leadership. It's important to be truthful about it. Black men are not a homogeneous group. We make voting decisions based on policies, not just identity. We don't vote solely based on our identity. If she recognizes this and stops trying to exploit our identity for political gain, she may succeed better," he stated.
On Friday, thousands of Michiganders gathered at Huntington Place for a rally hosted by the Trump campaign, featuring guest speakers Rep. Byron Donalds and senate candidate Mike Rogers.
A resident in Redford, Michigan, stated that many of Harris' policies are unclear and that Democrats often stereotype Black men as being unintelligent.
The worker who wore a UAW shirt and expressed dissatisfaction with the police's actions and immigration policies, stated that "their views don't make sense."
Despite the Harris campaign facing challenges with Black men in polls, Trump is seeing progress with the Democratic Party's most loyal voter base.
A recent New York Times/Siena College poll shows that Black men's support for Harris has decreased significantly, with only 70% saying they would vote for her in November, compared to Biden's 85% support in 2020.
A NAACP survey revealed that one in four Black men aged 50 and below would back Trump in 2024.
Notable Black male media figures, including radio host Charlamagne Tha God and comedic actor Eddie Griffin, have warned that Harris may not earn the support of Black men, as Trump has a unique appeal to this demographic.
Another employee in the automobile industry, Marcus, opposed the claim that Black men are distancing themselves from Harris.
"He said that she's not struggling, as it's a misconception perpetuated by others. In reality, many Black men are voting for Kamala."
