In the aftermath of a landslide Republican election, actress Justine Bateman declared on Friday that she had been "treading lightly" during the past four years, which she characterized as an "un-American" era.

The past four years have been nearly unbearable, characterized as an "un-American" era where questioning, opinions, and preferences were subjected to a strict set of "permitted positions" to determine acceptability.

Bateman, known for her roles in "Family Ties" and "Desperate Housewives," stated that she has never experienced such conditions in an American environment.

She stated that she had encountered this environment in smaller settings such as churches, private clubs, and cliques, but never on a national scale. It had been overwhelming. Sensible thinking was disregarded, and intellectual debate was vilified.

She added that "tolerance of 'permitted position' behavior and speech was considered acceptable. However, complete intolerance became a religion and one's professional and social life was constantly threatened. Those who spoke differently were punished as a warning to others."

"The "Townsquare" of social media showcased their destruction for all to view."

After President-elect Donald Trump won the popular vote and electoral college in every battleground state, Bateman made his comments.

On Wednesday morning, Trump received a phone call from Harris congratulating him, and later that day, she gave her concession speech at Howard University.

The GOP won the Senate majority and gained more seats in the House during Trump's second presidential election.

The Democratic Party has been prompted to reflect on their loss in the election, with surrogates like Harris-Walz discussing what led to the outcome. For example, Sen. Bernie Sanders has accused the Democratic Party of abandoning the working class.

The suppression of speech over the past four years has hindered the country's progress by silencing "independent thinkers and cultural and intellectual innovators."

Bateman stated that this was the #MeMeMeToo moment, where individuals focused on diverting attention to themselves rather than acknowledging their contributions to the collective. This period was characterized by an attempt to exert control over those who refused to conform to the crowd and had their own unique perspectives on what they required to achieve their goals.

When you deprive a society of independent thinkers and innovators, you stifle progress. Those who attempted to control the society did so by intimidating others with labels such as "Sexist," "racist," and "homophobic," even though their actions were not what they were accused of.

""Nevertheless, the groupthink that ensued led to these beliefs without any proof, as illustrated in the book 'Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds,'" she stated, gesturing towards the book."

She concluded that she is not an extremist, but rather one of the many who believe in common sense and individual freedom, as long as it does not infringe on another person's freedom to live their own life.

Adam McKay, the director of "The Big Short" and a staunch progressive, announced that he was leaving the Democratic Party and considering joining the Green Party or Working Class Families Party.
