Joy Reid suggests that Biden's recovery from COVID is equivalent to Trump surviving an assassination.
After being shot, Trump was given nine seconds to take an iconic photo-op.
On Wednesday, Joy Reid of MSNBC stated that Biden's recovery from COVID-19 is a "sign of strength" comparable to Trump surviving an assassination attempt.
During the Republican National Convention, MSNBC's Reid stated that both men in the photo were elderly, including Donald Trump, who took an iconic photo-op during an active shooter situation despite being given only nine seconds. Reid found the situation strange and promised to figure it out one day.
Trump's survival of the assassination attempt and his return to the campaign by appearing at his party's convention were portrayed as a "sign of strength" by the media, according to Reid.
If the current President of the United States recovers from COVID-19 and is able to do rallies, does that not convey the same thing? That he is strong enough, despite being older than Trump, to have survived something that was once fatal to people his age.
On Wednesday, the White House revealed that Biden has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be isolating at his home in Delaware.
The president, who is fully vaccinated and has received a booster, is currently experiencing mild symptoms.
Biden contracting COVID presents an opportunity for him to demonstrate responsibility, according to Reid.
"President Biden has a chance to demonstrate responsibility by wearing a mask while entering Air Force One and not spreading COVID. Additionally, he can use this opportunity to remind people of the devastating impact of COVID-19, which resulted in the deaths of over a million people. The White House should seize this messaging opportunity to bring attention to the toll the pandemic has taken on individuals and families."
Reid questioned the nature of Trump's injuries from the assassination attempt on Instagram's Threads.
Reid wrote: "I have numerous questions, such as where are the medical reports? What caused Trump's injury and what was the injury? Was it shrapnel, glass, or a bullet? Were the three attendees who were shot seated or standing relative to Trump? Why was Trump permitted to stand and pose for photos, fist-pumping for nearly ten seconds while inquiring about his shoe when there could have been additional shooters?"
