Joy Behar's comment on Carrie Underwood being "un-American" was a "selfish publicity gain," according to a former 'View' co-host.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck finds it "absurd" to criticize an "all-American girl" for not loving America.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the former host of "The View," countered Joy Behar's claim that Carrie Underwood was "un-American" for accepting an invitation to perform at President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.
During Tuesday's show, Underwood was criticized for singing at an event and supporting a convicted felon who wants to "destroy the country."
Behar stated, "I don't comprehend how you can claim to love your country while simultaneously normalizing a convicted felon."
Behar's comments and "The View" were criticized by Hasselbeck for not allowing people with common sense to participate in their discussions.
Even Whoopi Goldberg couldn't agree with Joy Behar's outlandish remark when it was passed around, as Hasselbeck shared on "Hannity" Tuesday night.
Behar's claims about Underwood being anti-American were lambasted by Hasselbeck as "ridiculous."
"Carrie Underwood, the American Idol winner who has an album and tour called All-American Girl, has actually spent more time on USO tours, serving and helping our nation's military, their families, and veterans, is set to perform 'America the Beautiful' at the inauguration of the President of the United States of America."
The ex-co-host stated that Behar's comments were driven solely by a desire for "selfish publicity" by linking her name to Underwood.
Behar's "dysmorphic lie" must be removed from the air to maintain relevance, as she wants to attach her name to Carrie Underwood's, according to Hasselbeck.
Hasselbeck stated, "We're truth bearers tonight. What we know to be true is that it's more un-American to call someone un-American for exercising their American rights."
Behar's statements were questioned by Hasselbeck, who asked, "Are all individuals present at the Inauguration Day, including security and custodial staff, considered un-American according to Joy's statement?"
Behar was defended by Hasselbeck against accusations of supporting weak women.
"Hasselbeck stated that Behar's statement was false and that she should be supporting Carrie Underwood. Furthermore, he emphasized that Carrie is an exceptional individual and that Behar could benefit from surrounding herself with people who hold different beliefs."
The former co-host said, "If she were as strong as she was, she could learn joy."
Hasselbeck advised those who could to attend President-elect Donald Trump's historic inauguration.
If you have the chance to be a part of or near something as significant as this event, as an American, you should take it, she advised.
