John Milius, director of the renowned Cold War thriller 'Red Dawn,' is reportedly 'ecstatic' about Trump's victory, according to his daughter.
Since the beginning, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter has been a part of 'Team Trump'.
According to his daughter, iconic director John Milius was excited about President-elect Donald Trump's win.
"Amanda Milius, a filmmaker and former Trump administration official, told Planet Chronicle Digital in an exclusive interview that she was very happy after the 2020 election results. She explained that while she felt a sense of relief, it was not as exuberant or overjoyed as it was in 2016."
Despite suffering a stroke in 2010 and keeping a lower profile in recent years, John Milius, the director of "Red Dawn" and "Conan the Barbarian" and the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of "Apocalypse Now," remains politically engaged.
""Since 2014, my dad has been a Trump supporter," Amanda stated."
Unlike most in liberal Hollywood, Amanda's father didn't have a positive view of Vice President Kamala Harris.
"Amanda chuckled at the idea of her friend hating Kamala Harris. "He was just laughing at the absurdity of it all," she said. "He thought it was ridiculous to even consider her as president. He has a flair for the dramatic, but he basically said that anyone who would vote for her was just foolish. He's like, 'There's no way this can be serious.' It's all just a joke to him.""
She believed that he had more vitriol towards Hillary Clinton because she had been around longer and he had more time to form opinions about her. However, he was not impressed, she concluded.
Amanda portrayed her father as perpetually distant from Hollywood's political sphere, but she never appreciated when fellow filmmakers and entertainers commented on politics. In 2024, Harris received the support of prominent figures such as Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, George Clooney, and Julia Roberts, as well as music stars like Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, and Lady Gaga.
"Amanda stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that her friend has always felt free to express his more outwardly right-wing views because Hollywood is so overtly left-wing. As a contrarian personality, he feels the need to be more vocal about his views. If Hollywood was a mix of normal people, he wouldn't have felt such a strong urge to be so outspokenly right-wing. However, because Hollywood is so left-wing, he has gone even further to the right."
She stated that when Hollywood supports a candidate, he rolls his eyes along with the rest of us.
Amanda Milius was part of the first Trump administration, working in both the White House and the State Department, which made her father extremely happy.
As the director of the 2020 documentary "The Plot Against the President," she followed in her father's footsteps.
