Jean-Pierre apologized for incorrectly stating that 64% of Americans support pardon after realizing he had misinterpreted the poll results.

According to YouGov, only 34% of Americans support President Biden pardoning his son Hunter, while 50% are opposed.

Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, faced criticism online after increasing the number of Americans who supposedly support President Biden's son's pardon by almost double.

On Sunday, President Biden granted a comprehensive pardon to Hunter Biden, who had previously stated that he would not receive one. Earlier this year, the first son was found guilty of federal tax charges in September and convicted of three felony gun charges in June for lying on a mandatory gun purchase form about his drug use and addiction.

For over a year, the president and Jean-Pierre consistently maintained that Hunter would not receive a pardon.

Since the pardon, the press secretary has been subjected to numerous inquiries during her first televised White House press conference.

Karine Jean-Pierre has been peppered with questions about the pardon of Hunter Biden and her denials that it would happen.

Jean-Pierre defended the pardon by invoking the American public's comprehension of the "challenging" choice. However, she referenced a poll that showed the opposite of what she asserted.

As you're asking me important questions, it's crucial to mention that a U.S. Gov poll was conducted, and some of you reported on it.

The poll revealed that 64% of American people agree with the pardon. This provides insight into the public's stance on the issue. While it's just one poll, it offers a glimpse into the sentiment. Sixty-four percent is a significant number, she emphasized.

She later stated, "I mentioned the U.S. government poll where 64% of Americans agreed with the president's decision to pardon his son."

The poll was conducted by YouGov, not the U.S. Gov.

According to the poll, 64% of Democrats supported the pardon, while only 34% of Americans "strongly" or "somewhat" approved of it, with 50% disapproving.

Social media users were quick to point out the error.

"Elias Atienza, Check Your Fact features editor, wrote that she is incorrect. According to a YouGov poll, 64% of Democrats, not 64% of Americans, supported the pardon. 34% of Americans overall supported it, with 50% disapproving."

Bonchie, a RedState front-page contributor, stated, "This is a level of lying that is psychotic. It was once considered shameful in polite society, but she'll likely be on MSNBC next year."

David Marcus, a Planet Chronicle columnist, questioned why she was up there.

Could Jean-Pierre turn a new leaf as she exits the White House, as requested by the Chicks on the Right account?

"Could you please try to be a little less dishonest during these last few weeks, @PressSec? My GOD you're terrible. Just absolutely abominable," Chicks On The Right posted.

The White House Press Secretary was corrected by Greg Price, Trump 2024 deputy rapid response director, regarding the pronunciation of YouGov and the percentage of Democrats who approved of the pardon.

Chuck Callesto, a social media strategist, confidently stated, "She is the worst without a doubt. Prove me wrong."
