As a top contender to be former President Trump's running mate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, is generating buzz.

Lawrence Jones sat down with Vance and Usha for an exclusive interview, where he discussed his military service and why he believes Trump needs a second term in office.

As a U.S. Marine, Vance emphasized the importance of national defense and ensuring that troops have the necessary resources to fight. He also expressed concern about the reasons behind sending children to war and the need to consider those reasons carefully.

Trump was described as a "great president" by Vance, who stated that he brought prosperity, freedom, and "peace on the world stage."

Usha expressed her support for her husband if he receives the invitation to serve as VP.

"Our relationship with JD is open and we'll see where it takes us. I love him and believe in him."

Although Vance was critical of Trump in 2016, his presidency proved him wrong.

Vance stated that while the success of Trump's presidency is a topic of discussion, he believes that his presidency exposed the corruption of the media. He learned an important lesson about media dishonesty through this experience.

Unlike Vice President Kamala Harris, Vance stated that he would not use talking points and would articulate his beliefs clearly.

"Politicians are skilled at articulating their thoughts, but often lack substance in their statements. This is particularly true of Kamala Harris, who frequently uses her words to score political points rather than engage in meaningful dialogue."

Vance stated that he only listened to Harris for 10 minutes, and she did not speak during that time.

If Vance is chosen as Trump's VP, he will be capable of dealing with the criticism.

"My upbringing in a poor family and my background in a working-class community have made it harder for my opponents to attack me, which may be why they fear me. I simply strive to do my best and if they're afraid of me, it's because I'll take it."

Vance stated that candidates should concentrate on substantial issues rather than using talking points.

Vance expressed gratitude for being considered and was honest about his feelings if he's not chosen.

"Although there may be some disappointment, the excitement of doing the job I do makes it all worth it."

The identity of Trump's VP choice is still unknown, but several potential candidates were recently requested to submit documents to Trump's team during the vetting process, including Vance, who some sources suggest could be crucial in winning over working-class Democrat voters in several crucial swing states.

A top GOP strategist stated that J.D. Vance is a well-known figure among Trump supporters due to his frequent appearances with the president on the campaign trail and beyond.

Sen. JD Vance on Trump VP rumors: The president has not asked me

"He could be a valuable asset in the Rust Belt and beyond, particularly in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, where he could help pick up working-class Democrat votes."

In 2016, Trump won all three states that were part of the "blue wall" for Clinton, but in 2020, these states flipped to Biden.

Despite any circumstances, Usha and JD vowed to continue being devoted parents to their three children.

On Thursday at 6 a.m. ET, tune in to "Fox & Friends" for an interview with Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., and his fiancée, Mindy Noce. On Friday, "Fox & Friends" will interview Gov. Doug Burgum, R-N.D., and his wife, Kathryn, as part of the series featuring potential Trump VP picks.
