Jane Fonda reveals that Bill Maher may leave his show due to Trump.
Bill Maher predicted that Trump would continue to dominate the news during his second term.
Bill Maher, the host of "Real Time," expressed his contemplation of quitting his political talk show due to his inability to handle another Donald Trump presidency.
"Maher expressed his frustration to Fonda on his "Club Random" podcast on Sunday, stating, "I'm s---ting my pants. I may quit because I don't want to do another [Trump term].""
Before the rest of the left labeled Trump a "threat to democracy," Maher had already warned that he was a "con man."
""Before anyone else, I had already done all the Trump-related tasks," he stated, now feeling uninterested in the topic."
Could Maher shift his focus to another topic instead of discussing Trump, as Fonda suggested?
"The show is politics, and he will continue to dominate the news as always."
In the podcast, Maher and Fonda frequently disagreed about the significance and issues of the far-left within the Democratic Party.
Maher, who identifies as an "old school" liberal, engaged in a debate with Fonda about regulations in California, gender ideology in schools, racism in America, and strategies for addressing climate change.
Fonda, who has been arrested for her climate activism, maintained that stringent environmental regulations were necessary because "we reside in a sea of poisonous substances" and "if we fail to control it, we will all perish from cancer."
Maher stated that while some regulations are necessary, many others are not.
He stated that despite the belief that California's state lacks regulations, there are over 300,000 regulations in place.
"Well, maybe they're needed," Fonda replied.
Maher grumbled about California's excessive regulation and taxation, stating that there were no safeguards against extreme leftist ideology after he had to undergo three inspections to install a new garage door in his home.
Fonda disagreed, saying she didn't know California had this reputation.
She stated that she does not consider California a highly leftist state in any way.
After Gov. Ron DeSantis banned funding for diversity, equity and inclusion programs at Florida's public universities, the pair continued to spar over the NAACP's "far left" travel advisory to Black Americans in Florida last year.
"Stories like that make people roll their eyes and say, 'Are you people nuts?'" he said before giving another example of progressives claiming men can "get pregnant."
He stated that while a trans woman can get pregnant, it is different from a man getting pregnant. He questioned whether the insistence on blurring this line is for a reasonable social cause or simply to advocate for full rights, respect, and protection for trans people.
Fonda retorted, stating that Maher's assertion that the far left had a significant impact on culture was exaggerated.
Fonda and others disagreed on how to tackle climate change, with Fonda emphasizing the urgent need for Americans to drastically reduce their emissions to prevent a catastrophic outcome. She contended that solar and wind power, rather than "digging, fracking, and mining," were the key to resolving the crisis.
Fonda's suggestions for radical clean energy measures were met with criticism from Maher, who believed that they were unlikely to be passed by lawmakers. Additionally, Maher pointed out that doomsday predictions about the end of the earth had come and passed several times before.
Fonda informed Maher that despite their frequent disagreements on political matters, she believed they shared little in common.
"Our perspectives on the world are vastly different," she stated.
