James Carville argues that the Democrats were unable to break free from the "odor" of defund the police and wokeness.
Former Clinton advisor criticizes 'defund the police' as the three most foolish words in the language.
James Carville, a democratic strategist, believes that Vice President Kamala Harris did not succeed in the election because the "defund the police" movement and wokeness were not able to be shaken off by Democrats.
President-elect Donald Trump won the election by defeating Harris, leaving Democrats to reflect on their mistakes. Carville, a former adviser to Bill Clinton and a prominent media figure during the 2024 presidential race, believes the Democratic Party has become too focused on "identitarianism" and uses the term "woke" to describe this obsession, according to the New York Times.
"Carville stated to the Times that "defund the police" are the "three stupidest words in the English language," and we would never be able to remove the odor of it."
Carville stated, "Just like when you get smoke on your clothes and need to wash them repeatedly, people are fleeing from it as if the devil avoids holy water."
The Times reported that Carville acknowledged Harris's merit for not emphasizing her gender and ethnicity.
Last week, Carville stated that he was still attempting to decipher the election outcomes.
Carville stated that the defeat was due to a flaw in our strategy and presentation, as we either didn't embrace the change message or kept something too long.
I'll have to reevaluate. I'm sure I'll come up with something to make me feel good again, but right now, today, it's hard.
Before the election, Carville stated that Harris would triumph because Trump is "insane."
According to Carville, the vice president has more money, more energy, a more united party, better surrogates, and the opponent is "stone a-- nuts," which makes him the likely winner.
