Jake Tapper of CNN: "The debate was not exaggeratedly the most significant moment in Harris' career."
The ABC News Presidential Debate between Trump and Harris is scheduled for Tuesday.
According to Jake Tapper of CNN, the ABC News Presidential Debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Trump is considered "the biggest moment of her political life."
"The Lead" host suggested Monday that the debate could determine the outcome of Harris' campaign as the race in swing states becomes more competitive.
"Tapper stated, "It's not an exaggeration to say this is the most significant moment of her political career. Despite the uncertainty, it's a crucial moment, and there's still much that voters don't know about her.""
Tapper suggested that the debate could help introduce Harris to likely voters who need to learn more about her to make an informed decision.
Acknowledging the steep challenge ahead, former Obama campaign adviser Ameshia Cross stated that Kamala Harris has a much steeper ceiling to clear than Donald Trump has to.
"She's in the spotlight and has a steeper hill to climb than Donald Trump," she said.
A NYT poll showed that 48% of likely voters supported Trump, compared to 47% who supported Harris. Furthermore, 60% of voters said they wanted a significant change from Biden's policies. While only 25% of respondents believed Harris would represent such a change, 53% thought Trump would.
Although polls indicate a tight contest between Trump and Harris, the vice president has been shying away from the media. Harris conducted her first official interview as the Democratic presidential candidate with CNN in late August, over five weeks after Biden withdrew from the race.
She has yet to give a formal press conference.
