In the aftermath of a devastating terrorist attack in New Orleans, a renowned rapper is delivering a message of encouragement to the city.
"New Orleans entertainment ambassador Percy "Master P" Miller stated on "One Nation" Saturday that the senseless terrorist act will not stop us from being who we are as a culture and as a people. We will stand up together and fight to show that this is America and we will prevail. As the city of New Orleans has shown, we possess the resilience to bounce back."
On New Year's Day in New Orleans, a driver crashed into a crowd on Canal and Bourbon Street, resulting in the deaths of at least 14 people and injuries to many others.
Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old U.S. citizen from Texas and an Army veteran, died after a shootout with officers.
Master P stated, "This is personal, and that's why we stand up without fear or fear. Our city will become stronger, but we will never forget those who lost their lives."
Despite investigating the possibility of accomplices, the FBI is confident that Jabbar acted alone, resulting in more than 30 injuries.
A black ISIS flag was found in Jabbar's rented pickup truck, which was used in the attack.
Across the nation, there has been an outpouring of support for New Orleans since the incident early Wednesday morning.
On Monday, President Biden and first lady Jill Biden will visit New Orleans to console the families and community members affected by the January 1 attack and meet with local officials.
Those who have been praying for our city received thanks from Master P.
The mayor and I want to show the people who lost loved ones in the tragedy that occurred in our city that we are committed to making things right. We will walk the streets of Bourbon Street with them to demonstrate our commitment to rebuilding and improving our city.
