In a Wall Street Journal interview, Bill Maher criticizes the "crazies" on the woke left.
Bill Maher discusses the individuals who dislike him due to his refusal to hate certain groups.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Saturday, Bill Maher expressed his views on the "crazies" within the Democratic Party.
When asked why he mocks the left more than he used to, he replied, "I do it because you provide me with more material. I'm a comedian, and I go where the gold is." Maher elaborated on his comedy, stating that "humor is one of the best ways to expose the truth, especially in politics." He added that "laughter is involuntary, so you can force the audience to admit they agree with you even if they don't want to."
The interviewer replied, "But the woke don't always laugh." Maher concurred, stating, "This is one of the problems with the left. They can't tolerate hearing something they don't already agree with. While the right also does this, the left does it more intensely."
Bill Maher's liberal friends disapprove of his invitation of conservative guests, such as Ann Coulter, on his show. "I had liberal friends who couldn't stand that. Just think about what this is - people who hate me for who I won't hate," Bill says, repeating, "People who hate me for who I won't hate."
Maher stated that people on the left are unable to be friendly towards those they disagree with due to their psychological makeup, which involves a need for virtue signaling and the desire to be perceived as good by their friends and social media followers.
Bill Maher refuses to join the Republican party, stating that he is not aligned with their views on democracy.
Maher stated that although he does not plan on switching parties himself, he understands that there are voters who are not particularly fond of Trump, but feel that the left is even crazier and therefore, they vote for him.
Maher criticized the younger generation for lacking knowledge and perspective. He argued that they are clueless because they have been indoctrinated into the belief that they live in the worst country in the world at the worst time in history, despite the fact that they reside in a country with numerous advantages and the best time in history.
Maher believes that America does not need a revolution, despite some people on the political fringes thinking otherwise.
He believes that Republicans will continue to dominate Democrats in elections if the Democratic Party does not "convince itself that it is not this misunderstood vehicle for what people truly desire." He adds, "When they lose elections, Democrats often say, 'We didn't get our message out.' Yes, you did. They just didn't like it. You got it out loud and clear."
In his final statement of the interview, Maher addressed Vice President Kamala Harris, saying, "You lost a wild election to a truly unhinged individual. Congratulations."
