In a key battleground state, voters urge the next presidential administration to take a more serious approach to immigration.
Immigration was a concern for Arizona voters, with them being divided on whether Trump or Harris would handle it more effectively.
Arizona residents have immigration and border security as their top concerns, but Planet Chronicle Digital's interviews with voters revealed a split opinion on whether former President Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris is the better candidate to address the issue.
""If there's a suspicion that someone is going to commit a crime, Mary from Phoenix suggested we incarcerate them more quickly at the border," said Mary from Phoenix."
Over 425,000 illegal immigrants with criminal records are currently free from ICE custody, including more than 13,000 homicide convicts and nearly 16,000 sexual assault convicts, as per data shared with lawmakers last month.
"Bob from Tempe stated that the data was tragic and that immigration reform was necessary, emphasizing the urgency of the issue."
Mary and Bob both believed that Harris would excel in addressing immigration. Mary stated that Harris and Biden had a "strong immigration bill before the Senate" during the spring, but Trump ultimately blocked the legislation with the help of his allies.
"She said that was infuriating, and they all marched in step. Therefore, she knows that if Kamala gets in, she will get it signed."
Harris' immigration policy has been "subpar at best," according to Nick from Sun City West.
"Secure the border," he emphasized. "Ensure the safety of the border. Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering unless they follow the established procedures."
In the latest Planet Chronicle poll, Trump is leading Harris in Arizona's presidential race by a narrow margin. Despite Biden's victory in the state in 2020 by less than half a percentage point, this marks the first time a Democrat has won Arizona since Clinton in 1996.
A Planet Chronicle poll found that 56% of Arizona voters believe Trump is better suited to handle the border, while 41% prefer Harris.
"It's terrible. I apologize for my language," Greg from Phoenix stated about Harris' management of the immigration crisis. "It's simply inadequate. They must monitor individuals."
This year, immigration is Brian's top voting priority because it affects almost every issue. He hopes that Arizona, where he resides, will return to Trump in the upcoming election.
"Brian stated that Harris, who recently visited the southern border for the first time since 2021, has been "hypocritical" despite maintaining consistency on the border."
Politicians are unavailable when needed, but they appear when it's convenient.
