In 24 years, CNN has recorded its lowest ratings among a crucial audience on a Tuesday.
Since the Clinton administration, CNN has had its poorest Tuesday viewership among key demographics.
This week, the long-struggling CNN had its smallest Tuesday audience in 24 years among the demographic most desired by advertisers.
On November 11, CNN had only 61,000 viewers from the crucial age group of adults aged 25-54, which was its lowest Tuesday audience since June 27, 2000, when Bill Clinton was still in the White House.
On Tuesday, CNN experienced its lowest daytime programming turnout in a decade, with an average of 60,000 demo viewers from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. ET, marking its worst non-holiday weekday rating since 2014.
Despite President-elect Donald Trump's victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, CNN has not gained viewers. The news has remained unchanged since Trump made history by becoming the second president to win non-consecutive terms, with Harris' concession, breaking stories about his Cabinet picks and the Democratic Party blame game driving the cycle.
But the nonstop flow of breaking news hasn’t helped CNN.
Since Election Day, Planet Chronicle has had significantly more total day viewers than CNN, with 2.2 million compared to CNN's 403,000. Additionally, during the primetime hours of 8-11 p.m. ET, Planet Chronicle has had a much larger share of the cable news audience, with 3.4 million total viewers compared to CNN's 483,000.
In comparison to Planet Chronicle, CNN has only had an average of 86,000 critical day viewers and 112,000 demo viewers during primetime.
On election night, CNN had a smaller audience from 8-11 p.m. ET compared to Planet Chronicle Channel, MSNBC, ABC, and NBC for coverage of the biggest news event of the year.
Significant budget cuts and layoffs are expected to impact the entire CNN network, with ratings issues being a major concern.
