In 2024, the five most significant moments that impacted America, as highlighted by Joe Rogan.
One of the largest media events of the year was Trump's marathon interview with Rogan.
This year, several moments on Joe Rogan's podcast significantly influenced the country's national conversation in an unprecedented manner.
Rogan's "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast is one of America's most popular shows, discussing cultural and political issues. Despite the country's ongoing polarization after the election, there is agreement among Americans that podcasts like Rogan's have a greater impact on voters than celebrity endorsements or legacy media.
Rogan interviews and endorses Donald Trump
Trump's October appearance on "The Joe Rogan Experience" was viewed over 53 million times on YouTube and is thought to have influenced the election. During a viral moment in the interview, Trump questioned why he receives more publicity than others, prompting Rogan to suggest that he has said a lot of wild things.
"Maybe," Trump replied with a smile.
"Your wild statements gained you popularity, as CNN showcased them, making you stand out from the typical politicians who use pre-prepared lingo. Despite disagreements, people recognized you as the real deal, thanks to your unfiltered and authentic approach."
In another part of the conversation, Trump mentioned that Elon Musk had given him the "nicest endorsement" and advised Joe to follow suit because he couldn't support Kamala.
On the day before the election, Rogan endorsed Trump by sharing a link to his interview with Musk and stating that he agreed with Musk's compelling case for Trump.
Allegedly, Vice President Kamala Harris's potential interview with Rogan did not happen due to backlash from progressive staffers. Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville called this a "huge error" and said he would have told such staffers, "I’m really not interested in your uninformed, stupid, jacka-- opinion as to whether to go on Joe Rogan or not."
Oprah and Michelle Obama's DNC speech on wealth was hypocritical, according to Rogan.
The Democratic National Convention in August was attended by several prominent Democrats and their allies, and Rogan accused two of them of hypocrisy.
Oprah Winfrey delivered a passionate speech at the DNC, emphasizing the importance of standing up against bullies in maintaining a democracy. She shared her personal experiences with racism, sexism, income inequality, and division.
Michelle Obama spoke about how her mother taught her the value of hard work, humility, and decency, and added that her parents didn't aspire to wealth and were wary of those who took more than they needed. She emphasized that their focus was on ensuring their children could succeed in a world where everyone around them was struggling.
Both women were criticized by Rogan for making wealth-related statements, despite their vast wealth.
"Rogan said, "Oprah was discussing her and Trump's potential partnership, and now she's addressing the DNC about Trump's threat to democracy. Meanwhile, she's criticizing income inequality, saying, 'Hey lady, you're rich as f---,' which I find confusing.""
The podcaster added, "Michelle Obama's mother or grandmother was always suspicious of people who took more than they needed, like, you are worth so much money. That's so crazy. You did it on a civil servant's salary, which is insane."
Joe Rogan roasts 'The View' as 'rabies-infested henhouse'
After Coleman Hughes discussed his controversial interview on "The View," Rogan criticized the show as being particularly annoying.
In March, Hughes appeared on "The View" to discuss his book, "The End of Race Politics: Arguments for a Colorblind America." During the show, co-host Sunny Hostin criticized Hughes' argument for colorblindness, claiming it was being used by the right and that many in the Black community saw him as a "charlatan" being "used as a pawn by the right."
Hughes responded, "I don't believe I've been co-opted by anyone and using ad-hominem tactics to avoid addressing crucial discussions is not productive."
As Rogan spoke to the author about his tense exchange with Hostin, he remarked that "The View" is a show that "people love to hate," deriding it as a "rabies-infested henhouse."
Hughes stated, "I did not anticipate her attempting to ambush me and attacking my character in that manner. I reacted in the moment and did not expect it to become as viral as it did. However, it arguably went more viral than anything I have ever done. Additionally, it appeared that my audience supported me during this incident."
According to Rogan, many of the audience members on set of "The View" are paid to be there, a common practice in the industry. However, he believes that the true fans of the show are those who are genuinely impressed by the hosts' opinions and are unable to leave their homes due to being immobile. Rogan also criticized Hostin for being ideologically captured and some of the other hosts for being very dull-minded.
Rogan shreds NYT for piece asking if the U.S. Constitution threatens democracy
After a New York Times writer wrote a piece suggesting that America's founding document is harmful to democracy, Rogan was taken aback.
The Constitution, which is the country's founding document, may be one of the biggest threats to America's politics, according to Jennifer Szalai, The Times' book critic. She argued that Trump's political success can be attributed to the Constitution, which is essentially antidemocratic and increasingly dysfunctional.
Rogan expressed his bewilderment that the piece was not satirical.
"Rogan stated on his show that the article he was referring to was not from the Babylon Bee, but was an actual New York Times article. He found it hard to believe that someone would print such content and that the New York Times would approve of it."
"What are you talking about?" Rogan rhetorically questioned as he contemplated the piece. "Could the greatest document ever founded by a country pose a threat to America's politics? What politics are we discussing? How could you manipulate me into agreeing with you on this?"
Biden voted for Trump: Rogan jokingly claims he's 'never been happier in his life' that Harris lost.
Biden was secretly relieved that Trump won against his Democratic running mate after being ousted from the Democratic nomination, according to Rogan's joking suggestion.
The viral nature of Trump's visit to the White House was largely due to Biden's warm welcome, which left commentators in awe. In contrast to his past speeches criticizing Trump and his supporters, Biden greeted him with a "Welcome back," sparking confusion and surprise among observers.
"What has been one of your favorite things during this election cycle, according to Rogan? Yesterday, Biden and Trump met in the White House. Biden voted for Trump, and Rogan is certain of it. He has never seen Biden so happy in his life, despite losing and his party losing the election. Rogan guarantees it."
Obama appeared exasperated when he greeted Trump after his first victory in 2016, according to the argument made by him.
When a photo of Biden smiling next to Trump was displayed, Rogan burst into laughter, "Wow, look at Biden's grin! It's like when your child gets married."
Biden felt joy at Harris being soundly defeated, as Rogan recalled, when the president placed a Trump hat on his head while out campaigning.
I assure you, I assure you that the individual was content. He displayed a broad grin on his face. He remarked, "Welcome back," jokingly.
