If Trump wins the 2024 elections, Michael Cohen fears his revenge and may leave America.
If Trump wins in 2024, his former attorney will leave.
Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's former attorney, stated that he is planning to depart the country and alter his identity if Trump regains the presidency.
For many years, Cohen served as Trump's personal lawyer, handling legal matters, business dealings, and personal controversies. However, their relationship deteriorated after Cohen was indicted and pleaded guilty in 2018 for tax evasion, campaign finance violations, and perjury. Cohen later provided testimony against Trump during the trial of Alvin Bragg and became a vocal critic.
During a segment on MSNBC's "Deadline White House" on Tuesday, Cohen was queried, "What do you believe will happen to you if he wins?"
"Well, I'm out of here," he responded.
"I'm currently working on a foreign passport under a different name, which presents challenges in managing my relationships with my wife and children. The Supreme Court's recent decision granting the president immunity has only emboldened him to act with impunity, believing he cannot be prosecuted for any wrongdoing."
The Supreme Court determined in Trump v. United States that a former president enjoys significant protection from legal action for actions performed while in office, but not for personal actions.
The Court remanded the case to a lower court because the justices did not rule on whether former President Trump is immune from prosecution for actions related to the 2020 election.
In August, Gorsuch told Planet Chronicle that the precedent was established in a previous case to safeguard the president from having civil lawsuits used against him as a weapon.
"Gorsuch explained that exercising the powers and duties of a president while in office would overwhelm him, and his political enemies would bring suits against him forever. The court ruled on this issue about 50 years ago."
Gorsuch argued that the court only applied the precedent and idea to the criminal context in this case.
Cohen was fired by the former president after pleading guilty to federal crimes, with the former president labeling Cohen as a "weak person" and accusing him of lying to obtain a reduced sentence.
During the segment, Wallace pressed Cohen, saying, "You're leaving the country. So you're out of here."
"I have no choice," Cohen responded.
