Hulk Hogan recounts tales of Andre the Giant's impressive drinking abilities.
Hogan says he would have shipped cases of Real American Beer to the man if he loved it.
Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan admitted that it is challenging to describe Andre the Giant's alcohol consumption abilities, but he did his best when recounting two incredible stories about the late WWE star.
The "Eighth Wonder of the World," Andre the Giant, was a 7-foot-4 giant who weighed over 500 pounds. His alcohol consumption tales are legendary in the wrestling industry, and Hogan, who famously slammed him at WrestleMania III in 1987, witnessed at least two eyebrow-raising moments.
During a recent interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, Hogan described the incredible feats Andre the Giant could perform with a 12-ounce beer in his prime.
"My mom used to live in Tampa, Florida, about 20 minutes from the airport, and he kind of took me under his wing," Hogan said before imitating Andre the Giant.
Andre the Giant reportedly said, "Hey, boss, I'm at the Delta Lounge. I have a one-hour layover, come by," to Hogan.
Hogan stated that he was in the car and arrived at the destination in ten minutes. In the Delta lounge, he had 50 minutes to catch his connection and consumed 108 12-ounce beers in that time frame.
Hogan was in Japan with pro wrestling legends when he was reminded of Andre the Giant's birthday at 7 a.m. before a long bus ride.
Hogan ran to a small fish restaurant where his friend lived above because he had been traveling to Tokyo frequently. He requested a case of wine for his boss and was given Pouilly-Fuissé, a strong French wine. He returned to the bus with 12 bottles and was on time at 7:45. As he was on the bus, his boss approached him and said, "Happy birthday, brother," and Hogan handed him the French wine.
"I used to be his runner on the bus, getting up to fetch things for him when he needed them. He couldn't get up and down from his seat easily, so he would kick my seat and say, 'Hogan, piss stop,'" Hogan remembered. "Darn, Andre, it's only 10:30, we've only been driving for a couple hours. I said, 'Give me a hit on that wine you got.'"
Andre the Giant told Hogan the entire case was already finished.
Hogan said, "I asked, 'What? You drank 12 bottles of wine in 2.5 hours?' It was actually three hours, but those are the drinking stories of Andre the Giant. He wasn't kidding around, brother. When you sat down with him, you better be ready to go."
According to the WWE, Andre the Giant was born with acromegaly, a condition that causes bones to grow at an accelerated rate. He died in his sleep of a suspected heart attack in Paris in 1993 at age 46 and was later the first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Hogan stated that he would have shipped his friend cases of Real American Beer, but the cans looked too small in his hand. To solve this issue, they would have to provide larger cans, such as 24s and 40s.
This week, Real American Beer was launched by Hogan with the aim of uniting individuals through shared drinks.
This summer, Real American Beer has secured distribution in 17 states and will launch with retail partners such as ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, Albertsons, Safeway, Sam's Club, Total Wine & More, and Walmart. The product is an "American-style" light lager brewed with 100% North American ingredients, the company stated.
