How would Harris differ from Biden as president, asked the Harris spokesman: 'Will she take it to the next level?'
Sams was urged by Hunt to clarify why working-class Americans have chosen to reject the Democratic Party.
During an interview on Thursday, CNN's Kasie Hunt questioned Ian Sams, the campaign spokesman for Kamala Harris, about how her administration would differ from President Biden's.
Why is she breaking with President Biden while proposing raising taxes? And how different are her proposals from President Biden's? Hunt asked.
On Wednesday, Harris presented a plan to raise the federal government's capital gains tax rate from 21% to 28%.
Donald Trump was swiftly mentioned by Sam, who emphasized that the choice between the two candidates was straightforward, stating that Harris focused on topics such as creating small businesses, reducing costs for the middle class, providing tax cuts for the middle class, and addressing everyday concerns of ordinary people.
Sams also highlighted Harris' plan to tax unrealized gains at a lower rate than what President Biden proposed, as well as quadrupling tax buybacks.
"Will she continue to challenge the president's policies?" Hunt inquired.
Sams stated that Harris considers herself her own candidate and has her own opinions on issues, despite being the president and vice president. She is proud of the accomplishments they have achieved together and has supported key achievements of the administration. However, Harris believes a 39.6% capital gains tax rate is too high and suggests a 28% rate would be better for the country's economy.
Sams was questioned by Hunt about why working class Americans of color and White, working class Americans have chosen not to support the Democratic Party.
He replied, "I believe the pundits can perform demographic analysis, and our campaign and the vice president's candidacy involve taking our message to the voters."
Despite Democrats holding power for nearly four years, polls continue to show that more working-class voters support Donald Trump over Kamala Harris.
"What is it about your actions over the past 3-plus years that accounts for this?" she inquired.
Sams argued that with only 60 days until the election, there is no time to dwell on why certain events may have occurred or not. Instead, they must focus on winning the election, and the vice president is doing so by discussing her economic vision, which is a new direction for both the Democratic Party and the country.
Sam mentioned that the main difference in Harris' proposal was the ban on price gouging.
