Hillary Clinton expresses enthusiasm over Biden's decision to withdraw from presidential race.
Clinton expressed excitement about speaking with Harris, stating, "I felt a sense of promise and possibility during our conversation."
Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State, disclosed an audio recording of her discussing with her husband, Bill Clinton, her decision to back Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate.
"In the audio recording for the epilogue of her upcoming book, Clinton stated, "I looked at Bill with a huge smile and exclaimed, 'This is exciting!' after speaking with the vice president.""
MSNBC's "Morning Joe," a liberal network show known for its support of the Biden-Harris ticket, was the first to share the audio.
In 2016, Clinton, the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, endorsed Harris for president after initially supporting President Biden. She also urged Harris to shatter the "glass ceiling" and become the nation's first female president, as reported by BBC.
Speaking with Harris, Clinton felt a sense of promise and possibility, which was exhilarating.
"As our first woman president, I envision Kamala taking the oath of office at the Capitol next January, and my heart swells with pride."
"Despite the challenges we have faced, our future holds promise and progress, and we will continue to work towards a better future for all," she stated. "This will have a significant impact on the lives of hardworking individuals everywhere."
Clinton also praised Biden for his service.
"Joe Biden has been lost as our standard-bearer, but we will miss his leadership, empathy, and fighting spirit. He is a wise and decent man who has served our country well. However, we have gained much more, including a new champion, an invigorated campaign, and a renewed sense of purpose."
In an August interview, Clinton stated that Harris was the "underdog" in her election battle against Trump due to the Electoral College. Despite winning the popular vote in 2016, Clinton lost the crucial swing states that ultimately denied her the presidency.
Last month, Clinton stated to The 19th News that as the underdog, it's part of the territory when we have the Electoral College to contend with, and we must all be willing to take any necessary steps to support her.
