A resident of Springfield, Ohio, issued a warning about the city's growing Haitian migrant population, stating that the community is facing a "dystopian nightmare" as it struggles to meet the basic needs of its taxpayers.

Diana Daniels, a Springfield resident, appeared on "Fox & Friends" to discuss the challenges faced by her city due to the influx of thousands of Haitians, who have depleted the city's resources such as housing and healthcare, and have also affected public safety.

"Daniels told Lawrence Jones on Thursday that living in their town felt like being trapped in a dystopian nightmare. Every day seemed to be a repetition of the same struggles, with residents they had known for years continuing to struggle to make ends meet. The town was a paycheck-to-paycheck kind of place, and the citizens who relied on social services like healthcare and benefits from the Rocking Horse Community Health Center and the Social Security office found themselves waiting in long lines without receiving the help they needed."

On Tuesday night, the former President Trump criticized the Biden-Harris administration's border and immigration policies while mentioning Springfield.

"If it takes a scandal to bring attention to our situation, then so be it. We've been struggling for years, and maybe we'll finally receive assistance. The unfortunate part is that it's my money being spent on a problem that we didn't cause."

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, approximately 20,000 Haitians have arrived in Springfield, a town of 58,000 people, resulting in an increase in crime, mayhem, and car crashes, according to city officials.

During recent city council meetings, residents have expressed outrage over the ongoing surge of influx and have demanded action on the issue.

"I observe the chaos in the streets. And I see you sitting comfortably in your chairs and suits. I challenge you to get out here and take action," said Anthony Harris, 28. "These Haitians are running into trash cans, buildings, and flipping cars in the middle of the street. How can you be comfortable with this?"

Some city leaders have accused residents of racism while they seek assistance, as stated by Daniels.

She has argued that the cultural difference, rather than the "color" difference, is the main factor contributing to the recent conflict between the two groups.

"Daniels stated that some of the comments being made by people he has known for many years are the hardest thing to deal with because the city has always been a close-knit community. He explained that the disruption of smaller neighborhoods is happening due to pockets of neighborhoods, and it has never been a race issue. Instead, it's about culture."

Gov. Mike DeWine of Ohio announced on Tuesday that he will allocate resources to alleviate the influx.

The federal government should assist local communities that were not involved in the decision to allow people to enter, but are now facing a significant influx of individuals, as the numbers rise rapidly.

Over the course of two years, DeWine pledged a total of $2.5 million for the county health department and other health care centers facing an influx of immigrants, as well as additional resources for law enforcement.

Daniels stated that she and other residents are probing into the circumstances surrounding the arrival of migrants in Springfield and the reasons behind it.

"What led to Springfield being targeted with so many Haitians? Why did this happen to us? Who was responsible? How did that happen? And then follow the money. It's challenging with our limited resources to uncover the details."
