Democratic Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker pledged to safeguard illegal immigrants in his state when questioned about his ability to "hinder" the incoming administration from constructing immigrant detention centers in Chicago.

"Pritzker assured Reid that he would do everything possible to safeguard undocumented immigrants in the state, stating that they are residents of the state. However, he emphasized the need to ensure that their actions comply with federal or state law."

Pritzker stated that under Illinois law, immigrant migrant detention centers were prohibited and local law enforcement were generally prohibited from participating in immigration enforcement.

Although he acknowledged that there were certain situations where his state would cooperate with the federal government to remove undocumented individuals.

Someone who has been convicted of a violent crime may require collaboration between the federal and state governments to allow deportation, as stated.

He stated that Trump's proposed mass deportation operation involves rounding up law-abiding undocumented immigrants in this country, many of whom work, pay taxes, and do not receive any benefits from those taxes.

"Pritzker informed Reid that federal law enforcement cannot be prohibited from entering our state to conduct raids or perform any other actions, as per federal law. However, it would be challenging for them to spread out across the country due to a lack of manpower within the Department of Homeland Security."

Trump's mass deportation plan may be unconstitutional, but attorneys general are working on these issues within the courts.

Another Democratic leader, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, has pledged to take all necessary actions to safeguard illegal migrants in her state who may be deported under Trump's plan.

Last week, Healey stated that every tool in the toolbox must be utilized to safeguard citizens, residents, states, and uphold democracy and the rule of law as a fundamental principle.

She responded with a firm "No" when asked if state police would assist with deportations.

Trump's "border czar" Tom Homan advised state leaders to step aside if they refuse to assist the federal government in removing undocumented immigrants.

Homan previously told Planet Chronicle Digital that if they're not willing to help, then get out of the way because ICE will do their job.
