On Friday, Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., criticized the media for attempting to construct "negative narratives" regarding President-elect Donald Trump and other conservative figures in response to the Los Angeles wildfires.

In an interview on "Fox & Friends," DeSantis criticized the media for attacking Trump's handling of the fires and protecting Democratic politicians in California and Los Angeles during the crisis.

DeSantis stated that he is okay with saying, "Just don't politicize it," but he believes that the media, which often attacks Donald Trump, is like the pot calling the kettle black when they do so.

On Thursday, DeSantis was questioned about his heated argument with a reporter at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence. During this exchange, the governor criticized the media for accusing Trump of politicizing the wildfires while remaining silent on the roles of Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., and Democratic Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass in the crisis.

On Wednesday, while addressing Congress, Trump accused Newsom of not doing a satisfactory job in preventing wildfires in California. In a Truth Social post, the president-elect added, "The fire is spreading rapidly for three days with zero containment. Nobody has ever seen such poor results before! Gross incompetence by Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass. And Biden's FEMA has no money - all wasted on the Green New Deal! L.A. is a complete wipeout!"

During a press conference at Mar-a-Lago, a reporter questioned DeSantis about the appropriateness of Trump's attacks on California leaders. In response, DeSantis posed a question: "Is it appropriate for individuals in your profession to attempt to create division and craft narratives whenever such events occur?"

If Newsom were a Republican, you would go try to impeach him for his actions.

The governor explained to Jones the reasoning behind his criticism of the journalist, citing his own personal experience with the media who have questioned him about natural disasters in Florida.

Donald Trump was being targeted by those trying to blame him for something, and I noticed how the press reacts negatively when such events occur in Florida. They only focus on creating negative narratives.

DeSantis says he 'has not seen' media hold Democratic California leaders accountable for wildfires

I recall the time when Hurricane Ian, a Category 5 storm, struck southwest Florida. The only thing people were interested in were negative activities. However, the truth was that the state was well-prepared, and we received an overwhelming response.

The governor informed Jones that Florida was providing aid to Californians affected by fires, saying, "Immediately, we offered assistance. As a result, the Florida Division of Emergency Management is in touch with California's Emergency Management Agency. We will fulfill any requests that come our way."
