Female gun owners are triggered by Harris's attempt to 'Glock' up the vote, as they perceive her as being completely anti-gun.
Women who own guns tell Planet Chronicle Digital that their policy proposals don't align with the Second Amendment, despite Vice President Kamala Harris's statement that she's "not taking anybody's guns away."
During her campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris attempted to show the Democratic ticket's support for the Second Amendment by revealing that she and her running mate, Tim Walz, were both gun owners.
Some women who own guns told Planet Chronicle Digital that they don't believe it.
"Amara Barnes, founder of Women Gun Owners Association of America, stated that when Kamala Harris mentioned owning a Glock, she felt nothing. She added that it's clear that Harris's statement was an attempt to appeal to the right and that she is actually anti-gun."
In the presidential debate on Sept. 10, Trump accused Harris of distancing herself from her previously held far-left views, citing her past positions on fracking, defunding the police, and gun control. Harris denied Trump's claim that she wanted to take people's guns away.
"We are both gun owners, and we are not taking anyone's guns away. Please stop spreading false information about this issue."
For weeks, her campaign evaded inquiries regarding the precise firearm she possesses and the state in which it is registered.
"In an October interview with CBS' "60 Minutes," Harris revealed that he has had his Glock for a long time. During a livestreamed town hall with Oprah Winfrey, Harris stated that if someone breaks into his house, they will be shot."
Jane Milhans, a Washington-based firearms instructor and Second Amendment advocate, criticized Harris' Glock talk as "smokescreen campaign rhetoric."
Milhans stated that he does not believe she is a gun owner who exercises and upholds our right to self-defense.
Milhans encountered two burglars in her home 20 years ago and now spends 100 hours annually training women on safe firearm handling.
Every day, she encounters women who have survived something or desire self-protection in high crime areas, as she shared with Planet Chronicle Digital.
Women have been increasingly arming themselves with guns in recent years, although men are still more likely to own them.
According to a 2023 Pew Research Center survey, gun ownership rates differ along political lines, with Republicans and GOP-leaning independents more likely to own a gun than Democrats and Democratic leaners.
"According to Barnes, most American women who own a firearm will not vote for Kamala Harris because her stance on gun rights does not align with private firearm ownership."
Harris pledges to implement "commonsense gun safety laws" to safeguard Americans from "gun violence in our schools, communities, and places of worship," as stated on her campaign website. This includes banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, mandating universal background checks, and supporting red flag laws.
In 2019, when she ran for president, Sen. Harris promised to sign a series of executive orders on gun control if Congress did not act within her first 100 days in office. She also supported mandatory gun buyback programs.
Harris's potential appointment of judges who may not be favorable to gun control measures is a concern for Milhans, as it could impact legal battles over gun control at both the state and federal level.
"Milhans stated that when there are bills that threaten our constitutional rights, it is crucial to have judges who are likely to uphold those rights."
The Harris campaign declined comment to Planet Chronicle Digital.
