Ex-roommate of CEO murder suspect expresses shock over charges: "Two completely different human beings"
For six months in Honolulu, Luigi Mangione shared a residence with RJ Martin.
Luigi Mangione's former roommate feels strange about his arrest because he knew someone who was completely different.
On Tuesday, R.J. Martin revealed on "Jesse Watters Primetime" that he lived with Mangione for six months at Surfbreak Coliving in Honolulu, a self-described "co-working space for remote workers and digital nomads."
Martin stated that Mangione was a great community member while living at Surfbreak. He followed the values and ethics of the community and always contributed to it. Even after moving out, he came back and contributed to the community by spearheading a book club.
He mentioned that the two developed a close friendship, exercised together, and played volleyball together.
Martin told Planet Chronicle host Jesse Watters that he was doing his best to take care of himself despite having severe back pain and a severe issue.
In Pennsylvania, Mangione was arrested by police at a McDonald's and held on multiple charges. Later, New York prosecutors filed a second-degree murder charge against him for the shooting death of Thompson.
Martin revealed that he proposed his ex-roommate and book club colleagues read Unabomber Ted Kaczynski's manifesto, stating that it was a form of "half jest" at the time.
Kaczynski's writings were reportedly described as "interesting" by Mangione, but Martin denied turning the 26-year-old towards the notorious murderer.
"Martin stated, "I feel strange because he was a great friend and I consider him a close friend, yet the idea of someone who would assassinate someone is completely incompatible with the person I lived with, the person I cooked meals with, the person who was part of book club and other activities with. It's like two completely different human beings.""
