Elon Musk's response to Nick Jonas' social media post receives criticism from fans.
Jonas responded to Musk with the statement, "Let's journey to the year 3000."
Nick Jonas sparked controversy among X users with his post featuring Elon Musk and the caption "Take us to the Year 3000," which many interpreted as a show of support for the multi-billionaire entrepreneur and incoming DOGE co-chair.
In response to Musk's comment on an older GIF of the Jonas Brothers rotating a coffee table, a play on their 2006 hit song "My, How the Tables Have Turned" was made in reference to Tesla's success since President-elect Donald Trump's win.
Although Jonas never explicitly supported Musk's ideas, many on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, were angered by the presumption of support for Musk.
One critic commented, "I hope one day your daughter meets a man who treats her like Elon and his friends treat women. Let's see how supportive you are then."
A screenshot was posted by another user, revealing that Musk's account was blocked, while Jonas' response to his tweet was visible.
She wrote: "I'll have to block you too, sorry."
A third commentator demanded that Jonas remove his post immediately, stating, "This man is despicable and even if this was intended as a joke, it's not amusing."
Jonas faced criticism from many fans who urged him to remove his post or consider the impact of his response to Musk on his followers.
A multitude of users defended Jonas, criticizing the critics for exaggerating, interpreting negatively, and contributing to cancel culture. Even some who dislike Elon Musk supported him.
One user suggested that we should collectively calm down and stop being so polarized, even though Elon Musk and Trump were once Democrats.
The wave of criticism was cited as evidence of "why Trump won."
"They'll attempt to shame and intimidate you for a minor act like tweeting at Elon. The left is so deeply entrenched in their ideology that they've lost touch with reality," they stated.
A third person commented, 'It's astonishing how many individuals are genuinely offended by this post. No one seemed to be moved emotionally by Elon Musk speaking with Cenk Uygur or responding to John Fetterman. Have you ever thought about how you behave like zealots in a cult?'
According to sources close to Jonas, Nick is not planning on deleting his post about Elon Musk and will not waver from his stance. He believes that many people are overreacting to the situation and that there are more pressing matters to concern himself with.
"Nick attempted to make a statement or announcement of support, but on the internet, he faced criticism. Despite this, he has moved on from the controversy."
A representative for Jonas was contacted by Planet Chronicle Digital for comment, but no response was received before the publication deadline.
