During their meeting in the White House following Trump's election, Trump reportedly commended Biden.
In November, Biden visited the Oval Office to meet with Trump following his election victory.
During their meeting in the Oval Office after the election, President-elect Trump praised some of President Biden's economic policies.
"In an exit interview with USA Today, Biden stated that he was direct with Trump upon his election, inviting him to the White House and spending two hours with him. Trump praised some of the economic accomplishments that Biden had achieved."
In November, after Trump won the election, he and Biden met in the Oval Office, resuming a presidential tradition that was omitted in 2020.
According to Biden, Trump claimed he was departing as president with a positive record, while Biden stated that it would be detrimental to Trump's interests to attempt to settle scores.
Biden stated that Trump was mostly quiet regarding his plans as president during a discussion about pardons.
In the interview, Biden argued that it was unnecessary to imprison Hunter Biden for gun charges, as he had settled all his tax obligations.
In 2024, Hunter Biden was convicted of lying about purchasing a gun, lying about information that must be kept by a federally licensed gun dealer, and possessing a gun while being an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.
"Nobody had ever been tried on that, as Biden stated. He potentially put him in jail for several years due to his possession of it for 10 days, with only two days in his possession."
"And that's why I stepped in," Biden said.
Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung told Planet Chronicle Digital that the president-elect won due to Biden's "poor policies."
"Joe Biden's failed policies resulted in record inflation and an economy that left behind all Americans, leading to President Trump's re-election with a historic mandate to continue the successful economic policies of the first Trump Administration that benefited all Americans."
