'Drea de Matteo, star of 'Sopranos,' responds to Hollywood stars mocking Trump shooting: "No tone of peace"'
Drea de Matteo has previously spoken out about the treatment she's received in Hollywood for not supporting Biden.
Drea de Matteo, a former "Sopranos" star, has responded to celebrities who made light of the assassination attempt on former President Trump last Saturday.
On July 13, during a campaign speech in Butler, Pa., Trump was shot in the ear by a would-be assassin. Despite the bullet grazing his ear, he survived the attempt on his life. Trump made his first public appearance since the shooting at last week's Republican National Convention, wearing a bandage over his ear.
Jack Black's bandmate Kyle Gass made a joke at a concert in Australia about his birthday wish being for the shooter to miss Trump. Black was taken aback by the comments and canceled the Tenacious D tour. Gass later apologized on Instagram before deleting the post.
"Mark Hamill ridiculed the magnitude of Trump's bandage, stating it was excessively large."
She's a fan of these actors and celebrities, but she's disheartened by recent comments.
"She told Planet Chronicle Digital that everyone has the right to their opinion and freedom of speech, but as a liberal, she doesn't understand how the left has become so rebellious, with no tone of peace, love, harmony, and compassion. She believes the left should be the party of inclusivity, love, and peace, yet they are the ones causing riots and being mean-spirited."
Matteo stated that Gass was not opposed to Black saying anything, but the audience's laughter and amused reactions in the U.S. made it jarring to hear.
""I don't understand that a portion of America supports death," she said."
Matteo stated that while the assassination attempt was undoubtedly hateful rhetoric, it went beyond that.
Matteo, a renowned actress who has won an Emmy, is celebrated for her performances on "The Sopranos" and "Sons of Anarchy." Like many Hollywood progressives, Matteo initially suffered from "Trump Derangement Syndrome." However, after conducting her own investigation, she came to a different conclusion.
"I understand that many people have Trump Derangement Syndrome, and I was one of them. However, people can change, and it's not that Trump changed, but I did. I did my research and paid more attention to what was happening."
During the COVID-19 shutdowns and the accompanying mandates, Matteo experienced a "rude awakening."
"I believe that more truth will be on the conservative side at present," she stated. "Since they aim to preserve this nation, and that's commendable."
Matteo, who supports both Trump and Kennedy Jr., has previously spoken out about the Hollywood treatment she received for not rallying behind Biden.
"Despite being critically acclaimed, we were outcasts on "The Sopranos." My character, Adriana La Cerva, met a violent end on the show. I still feel like an outcast, as I recently stated on "Jesse Watters Primetime" in June, when I mentioned my character's death and my own feelings of isolation."
I believe it's time for all those individuals who are attacking Trump's character to reflect on what's causing their anger, as stated by de Matteo on Planet Chronicle Digital.
De Matteo stated that she believes there are many "quiet" Trump voters in Hollywood, but she questioned whether they would become more vocal, despite the recent political turmoil, due to their ongoing fear.
"She expressed her sadness at seeing many people still living in fear, stating that in the next six months, it wouldn't matter which side they were on. She believed that the country's karma and the question of humanity would determine their fate."
Matteo, the founder of Ultrafree clothing brand, stated that she no longer identifies as an actor as she is currently concentrating on other social issues.
"I'm no longer interested in working in Hollywood," she stated. "Instead, I'd prefer to discuss this topic and help more people understand that focusing solely on voting about social issues like abortion is misguided. And that's coming from a dedicated liberal."
