DNC fundraiser criticizes party's belief in Kamala Harris political resurgence: 'Not what America desires'
Some Democrats are considering Vice President Harris as a potential presidential candidate in 2028.
On Thursday, DNC fundraiser Lindy Li criticized Democrats' belief that Kamala Harris could make a political comeback, stating that it was nothing more than "delusions."
"This is not what America wants. November 5th was a decisive defeat for the Democratic Party. She lost every single swing state. It wasn't a squeaker like it was in 2016. This was a resounding defeat and, right now, Kamala Harris is indulging in delusions of running for governor of California, possibly in 2026 or even president again in 2028. America has said, 'We don't want to be coconut-pilled. We do not want Kamala Harris. We don't want failed border policies,' and I feel liberated, and I can finally tell the truth that the Democrats completely failed on the border," Li said on "America's Newsroom."
Yvette Lewis, a DNC Executive Board member, stated on Wednesday that she would fully support whatever decisions Harris makes in the future, calling her a "phenomenal candidate" despite her defeat in the Electoral College to President-elect Trump.
Bill Hemmer was informed by Li that she has been shunned by fellow Democrats due to her public criticism of the party's state after the election, particularly when she stated that the Democratic Party was tainted by the "odor of defeat."
"I lost thousands of followers because I spoke the truth. In a cult, you can't speak the truth. You can't ask any questions, but I'm done with that," she said.
"I am likely to face criticism again for my upcoming statement - men and women are different, and it's problematic when men dominate women's sports. This viewpoint is not controversial; it is a matter of common sense that the American people recognize. However, the Democratic Party, being situated in their ivory towers, is disconnected from reality and is preoccupied with these unnecessary culture wars, which are not the concerns of the average American."
The 2024 election cycle has prompted Democrats to reassess their messaging and identify what went wrong. Some party members, including Li, have attributed the loss to messaging that was "out of touch."
We prioritize bread and butter concerns, such as providing for our families, educating our children, securing our borders, and preventing an influx of immigrants. Being a naturalized immigrant myself, I understand the importance of these issues. However, caring about these matters does not make someone a sexist or racist.
Some former aides claim that Harris lacks time and political capital to determine if she will run for office again.
"One former Harris campaign aide told Politico that she doesn't have to decide if she wants to run for something again in the next six months. Instead, the natural thing to do would be to set up an entity that would give her the opportunity to travel, give speeches, and preserve her political relationships."
A close source to Harris stated that there would be a longing to hear her voice and that the void wouldn't last long.
