Detroit pastor Lorenzo Sewell claims that it is impossible for Christians to maintain political neutrality.
He stated that while he does not believe every Democrat is evil, he does believe the Democratic platform is demonic.
A Detroit pastor stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that it is impossible for pastors and Christians to maintain political neutrality.
The Bible is a political book from Genesis to Revelations, as Lorenzo Sewell, pastor of 180 Church in Detroit, Michigan, stated.
"It is impossible to be politically neutral," he added.
In the 2024 presidential election, Sewell, a Republican, endorsed President-elect Donald Trump and hosted the then-GOP presidential candidate at his church last summer.
He has previously been a critic of identity politics.
Sewell stated that being spiritual and political are interconnected, and one cannot be a spiritual person without being politically engaged.
The Washington Post reported on a Los Angeles pastor's struggle to unite his church before and after the presidential election, which prompted Sewell's reaction.
The Post reported that Rev. Jonathan Hall, a native of Alabama and the leader of First Christian Church of North Hollywood for two years, is facing increasing challenges in keeping his congregation of over 1,000 members united, as the political climate becomes more polarized.
Numerous churchgoers departed the place of worship because of their ideological disparities. One of the attendees objected to a movie scheduled to be shown at the cinema, claiming it was "biased" and "opposed to the Republican party."
Others left after they discovered their peers were attending Trump’s inauguration.
Reacting to the Washington Post story, Sewell stressed the importance of bipartisanship.
"In order to achieve progress, it is necessary to be bipartisan and work with both Democrats and Republicans. This understanding is shared by the native of Detroit's east side."
Sewell told Planet Chronicle Digital that there are Democrats at his church.
"It is challenging to be a Bible-believing Christian and a Democrat, according to our belief. We believe that. Do you have Democrats in your church? Yes, we believe that. However, we do not believe that every Democrat is a demon, but we do believe that the Democratic platform is demonic," he stated.
"We don't believe that every Republican is a revivalist. We don't worship a donkey or elephant. Instead, we worship the lamb that was slain."
