Despite losing their home to wildfires, a California family remains devoted to their faith after their Virgin Mary statue miraculously survived the destruction.
A video of the Halpin family singing in praise at a site has gone viral.
The family's unwavering faith was evident through a statue of The Virgin Mary that remained unscathed by the wildfires in southern California, inspiring them to sing in praise of her resilience amid the smoldering ruins.
On Sunday, Peter Halpin, the family patriarch, shared with 'Fox & Friends Weekend' that while everything else had been fried, the statues of The Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph were in pristine condition.
"We prayed to the sacred heart of Jesus and sang a special song to the Blessed Virgin, as our home has always been dedicated to the sacred heart of Jesus and all our family members, including our extended family."
Last week, the family visited the remains of their home of 37 years, which had been destroyed by the deadly Eaton fire. Despite the devastation, they turned to faith and sang in praise alongside their six children and other loved ones in a viral video posted to Instagram.
"Although we didn't intend for this to go viral, the community's response has been incredibly heartfelt and overwhelming."
Jackie, Peter's wife, shared that she was overcome with emotion after her son-in-law took a photo of the statue still standing at the site the day before, even though he had snuck up to it.
They had to make their own pilgrimage to the site to thank God for the years they spent there.
She stated, "My intention was to pray and express gratitude for our safety and the many years of entertaining guests. As a family, we strongly believe in the value of hospitality, so I simply wanted to say, 'If we can do it again, that would be great.'"
"I just wanted to pray and be grateful for what we've had because the song in the video happened spontaneously."
Southern California is still being ravaged by wildfires, which have destroyed communities and taken 16 lives.
