Last week, MSNBC's viewership reached new lows as the network grapples with the aftermath of President-elect Donald Trump's election win.
Despite a busy news cycle that included the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson and the ensuing manhunt for his killer, a slew of news related to Trump’s Cabinet picks, the fallout from President Biden announcing he would pardon his son, Hunter, and Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad being ousted from power, "Alex Wagner Tonight," "Inside with Jen Psaki" and "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" all hit rock bottom last week.
During the week of December 2, "Alex Wagner Tonight" averaged 595,000 total viewers, marking its lowest-rated week since the show's 2022 debut.
MSNBC's "Inside with Jen Psaki" had its smallest weekly audience since its launch last year, with only 651,000 total viewers.
"The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" had more total viewers than the previous week, but it reached an all-time low among the demographic of adults aged 25-54. "The Last Word" recorded its lowest audience since its launch in 2010 with only 61,000 demo viewers last week.
Due to Comcast's recent decision to spin off NBCUniversal cable assets, including MSNBC, into a separate company, the future of shared resources, the cable network's name, and editorial direction are uncertain.
"Morning Joe" co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski angered many viewers last month when they admitted they met with Trump after years of calling him a "fascist" and a threat to democracy.
