One Democrat expressed surprising optimism about the second Trump administration's potential to provide a "remarkable opportunity" for the party.

Despite initial concerns over President-elect Trump, there are opportunities for Democrats and Republicans to collaborate and achieve their objectives, according to former Missouri state representative Don Calloway, who spoke on "MSNBC Reports" Tuesday.

"According to Calloway, the opportunity for Democrats to collaborate with the Trump Administration on the executive side is vast, as seen from his vantage point in Washington, DC. This aligns with the transactional nature of the administration's approach, which has been evident over the past four years and continues into the present."

The Trump administration may surprise some Democrats with its willingness to discuss political economy and marketplace on both the legislative and business sides. Since his election, Donald Trump has shown support for longshoremen. There is a significant opportunity to achieve substantial progress for the American people by expanding the conversation on this topic.

Calloway stated that there wouldn't be any progress on "social issues" as they involve the protection of basic human rights. However, he was hopeful about finding compromises in other areas.

Calloway expressed optimism about the Trump administration's ability to work with Democrats and implement broad policies nationally to satisfy the populist coalition they used to win the election.

The administration has been met with varying responses from Democrats regarding how to collaborate since Trump's re-election.

This month, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries stated his intention to collaborate with Trump and the Republicans to achieve "bipartisan common ground" once they assume control.

Jeffries stated that the group is ready to collaborate with the new administration on any topic, especially those that are crucial, such as addressing the high cost of living, which he believes is the most pressing issue that emerged from the election.

Some prominent Democrats, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom, have stated their intention to oppose certain aspects of Trump's agenda, particularly his plan for mass deportations.
