Deacon who saved gunman from death receives bravery award from Fox Nation, surprised by man he saved.
The man who attempted to shoot the pastor was forgiven.
At the Fox Nation Patriot Awards, an American hero who tackled a Pennsylvania church gunman was surprised by the pastor he saved.
In May, an armed man aimed his gun at Pastor Glenn Germany during a church service at Jesus' Dwelling Place in North Braddock, Pa., causing Deacon Clarence McCallister to watch in horror.
The gun did not fire when the man pulled the trigger, and McCallister tackled him before he could take another shot. Months later, the two expressed gratitude to God for sparing their lives on the Fox Nation stage at the Patriot Awards.
"We're all heroes in America," McCallister declared while accepting the "Award for Bravery" and expressing gratitude to his family. "We all have the heart to do whatever it takes to protect our loved ones. We got mother instincts. We're going to do anything to protect our children."
Germany surprised his McCallister in a heartfelt entrance and said, "It's good to be alive."
"I am grateful for God's protection and watchful eye over me," Germany said. "I am thankful for the safety of this angel. Hallelujah! I appreciate the Lord's assurance that nothing bad would happen to anyone else in our building. So, I am truly grateful."
"Today is Thanksgiving, and I'm grateful for my wife who has always been an anchor for me and is here with me. I'm so thankful to have her in my life."
Germany also gave a "true, sincere word" to President-elect Donald Trump after the attempt on his life.
"Germany forgave the young man who attempted that, emphasizing the importance of loving young men and women going through mental illness. He stated that they need our help and prayed for us to work together and show them love. God bless America, he said, as he praised our country as the greatest and hoped it becomes the safest and greatest."
