DC mayor discusses 'progressive' meeting with Trump prior to inauguration on MSNBC.
The meeting with Mayor Bowser lasted between 45 minutes to an hour, and she expressed optimism.
In an interview with MSNBC on Saturday, Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser described her meeting with President-elect Donald Trump as "forward-looking" and "candid."

During a recent interview, MSNBC host and former RNC chair Michael Steele questioned D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser about the expectations of D.C. residents from the president-elect before his inauguration and how she approached their meeting, noting that their relationship had been somewhat strained during Trump's first term.
Bowser described the meeting as forward-looking, where we discussed the priorities for the district and him in his second term. He believed it was candid and level-setting, and they are excited to work on those shared priorities.
Symone Sanders-Townsend stated that the meeting with the pair was not controversial and they discussed crime.
Bowser explained that the meeting between two leaders with constituents who want to move the city and the nation forward was not a quick or rushed one, lasting between 45 minutes and an hour.
Bowser stated that she was optimistic about finding a shared understanding after their meeting.
She expressed optimism that the President and his administration would find common ground during his second term, and she and her team were eager to contribute to a successful inauguration on January 20.
In the summer of his first term, Trump faced off against Bowser amidst the George Floyd protests.
In 2020, the District of Columbia officially recognized a section of the street leading to the White House as "Black Lives Matter Plaza" after it was spray-painted by protesters with the message "Defund the Police."
Bowser and Trump publicly disagreed on the use of federal law enforcement to control the riots and protests in American cities, including Washington D.C.
In 2020, Trump criticized a plan to change national monuments, which was suggested by a group appointed by the D.C. mayor to identify schools, parks, monuments, statues, and buildings named after historical figures who they deemed oppressive or racist.
