David Muir of ABC returns to air with a looser jacket after being mocked for "vanity" with a tailored look.
The anchor was accused of trying to look 'nice and svelte' amid the LA wildfires disaster, leading to a change in the anchor's appearance.
On Thursday night, ABC anchor David Muir made a noticeable change after being criticized for using clothespins to fit his clothes while reporting from the L.A. wildfires.
On Wednesday, during "ABC World News Tonight," Muir was seen wearing a yellow fireproof jacket with the ABC News logo on it. At one point, while reporting, Muir turned to his left and appeared to be using clothespins to keep the jacket tight around his body. Social media users criticized the news anchor for focusing too much on his appearance while covering a disaster.
Jack Osbourne, son of rock star Ozzy Osbourne, criticized the anchor on X Wednesday for focusing on his appearance during the tragedy while the city burned.
Over 3 million views were quickly gained by the younger Osbourne, but Muir faced criticism from other prominent X users who accused him of being vain and embarrassing himself.
On Thursday evening, while reporting from the scene, he wore his flame-retardant jacket open and it was noticeably looser. The broadcast also included footage of him without the jacket altogether, instead wearing casual clothing as he surveyed the wreckage.
